Phreec of MMOwned's 19 twink warlock guide.
People may ask me why I made a warlock twink instead of the usual rogue or hunter twinks? It's because I'm so tired of battlegrounds swarming of those two classes so I decided to make a little different twink.
Imo warlocks are underestimated for twinking because they need alot of gold and time invested if you want to make a really good geared twink. The damage of warlocks is extremely good, but maybe not in bursting like rogues and hunters. Usually I'm first in honorable kills and damage done after a bg has finished.
1.0.0 Gear.
You should go with as much spell damage and stamina as possible. Intellect is not as important as those two stats, but should come after them.
1.0.1 Head:
Lucky Fishing Hat Great stamina boost. Hard to get. So you might reconsider getting the Goggles until you succeed to get this.
Green Tinted Goggles Easy to get. You should get the fishing hat over these. Stamina > spirit.
1.0.2 Neck:
Thick Bronze Necklace Not many necks available at these levels for warlocks. But this has stamina so it's good.
Voice Amplification Modulator Is another option. But not many interrupts at these levels. Hard to find a crafter too.
The PvP necks Are another option. You lose 1 stamina, but gain 6 agility for some dodge rating. Not worth it imo.
1.0.3 Shoulders:
Talbar Mantle Easy to get. Has good stats. One of 3 different shoulders available at these levels with stats on.
Level 19 no-stats shoulders Why these you ask? The reason to get one of these is that these are not soulbound, and therefore you can be enchanted with one of the enchants in the enchant section. (2.0.2).
1.0.4 Back:
Tranquillien Champion's Cloak (horde) A very nice dps caster twink cloak, especially for warlocks. The stamina on this is the best for these levels. Only available for horde tho' so if you're looking for a cloak with alot of stamina for your alliance toon you could try to farm the
Miner's Cape Around 50% drop from a RARE mob in DM. Have your booster to do a targetting macro to check if he is in there. Feyscale Cloak 4 stamina and +5 spell damage. A very good cloak for those who wants to max their spell damage. Best spell damage cloak. Also drops from a RARE mob, outside of WC.
Firebane Cloak 5 stamina and 5 fire resistance. The stamina on this cloak is OK. This is cloak is BoE (Binds on Equip) so you could use this if you can't be arsed or just had a bad luck with drops. The 5 fire resistance gives some defense against those twinks with fiery enchant, and ofcourse enemy fire spells.
Sporid Cape OK stamina cloak with some spirit on. Easy to get but not the best.
Engineer's Cloak 5 stamina and 2 intellect. OK cloak if you go want more intellect and doesn't want to sacrifice too much stamina.
1.0.5 Chest:
Bloody Apron 12 stamina (insane). If you REALLY want to be a stamina bit*h, then this robe is for you
This is a good cloak to have in your inventory even if you don't use it as main robe. You could use this when carrying the flag for example.
Robe of Evocation This robe is the best in terms of spell crit. Not so important stat if you (wich you usually do) cast dots on your enemies. Decent stamina. Hard to get for alliance, as this is a drop from RFC, that is inside the horde capital Orgrimmar -.-
Robe of the Moccasin This robe has nicely balanced stats. 6 stamina and 7 spell damage, and some spirit. I would recommend you to use this as your main robe. Easy to get too.
Tree Bark Jacket The intellect on this torso is very nice if you feel like you lack mana. BoE so can be bought from the AH. Could get expensive if you decide to get this, as you could get the Moccasin robe for free.
Inferno Robe Is the last option. The stats on this are crap for a warlock, but the item level on this is over 35 so you can get TBC enchants on this. For example 6+ all stats, 150hp or 15 resilience.
1.0.6 Wrist:
Crystalline Cuffs Not many options on wrists on these levels. But these are the second best spell damage wrists and have a small chunk of intellect (and spirit). Also a drop from RFC inside Orgrimmar.
Mindthrust Bracers These have pretty strange stats. -5 stamina ( notice the minus ) and 9 intellect. The intellect on these are the only reason to get these. And then remove the stamina loss with enchants. More of enchants in the enchants section.
Greenweave Bracers of Shadow Wrath Are the best spell damage wrists. These have a random suffix so the correct one could be hard to find, +(4 - 6) Shadow Spell Damage. If you find one with only +4 shadow damage, don't get it. The only reason to get these are if the shadow dmg is 6.
1.0.7 Hands:
Serpent Gloves These gloves have the exact same stats as
Gold-flecked Gloves Best spell damage gloves. Has some intellect on them too so that is a plus. These two gloves are identical, if we don't count the item level and req and that they drop from different instances.
Magefist Gloves Is another option. They have a decent amount of stamina, that the other gloves lack, but have no spell damage. BoE, so check the AH if you decide to go with these.
1.0.8 Waist:
Keller's Girdle This is THE waist for cloth wearing twinks. The other options are random green quality belts. This has a good stamina and a nice chunk of intellect.
1.0.9 Legs:
Darkweave Breeches The stats on these are very nice for cloth twinkies. There are better for priests but lets leave that out because this is a lock guide
Pretty much the only option for warlocks...
1.1.0 Boots:
Nat Pagle's Extreme Anglin' Boots These are the absolutely best twink boots for every class. The item level on these is over 35 so TBC enchants can be applied to them. Hard to get tho.
Sanguine Sandals Are another option to have while trying to get the fishing boots. The stamina and intellect on these are very useful.
Greenweave Sandals of Shadow Wrath Are the best spell damage boots. A lack of other stats make these a little shitty imo.
1.1.1 Rings:
Bronze Band of Force Best spell damage ring. Adds +6 spell damage. This rings does not have any other stats, so if you feel like having enough stamina and intellect, you could use this.
Lavishly Jeweled Ring Has a nice chunk of intellect on it and some spell hit. Best intellect ring for warlocks (there is another one with 7 int, but it also has a -5 stamina stat on it).
Seal of Sylvanas ( horde ) This ring has a REALLY nice chunk of stamina on it. +8 sta and +3 str (str is useless). This is a really nice ring for survival and mana tapping.
Seal of Wrynn ( alliance ) The stats on this ring are very nice for all classes actually. 4 Sta and 4 Int (and some spirit) is very good for these levels.
The PVP rings Are very good as they give both stamina and spell damage. Also add some mana regen. You should get one of these and pair it with one of the rings mentioned above.
1.1.2 Trinkets:
The PVP trinket This is a must have for any twink. Propably takes a while to get, but it's worth it. This trinket will save your life many times
Arena Grand Master The other trinket you should be filling your spot with. The bubble is great in situations where you have someone nuking you so you can't cast that fear because of the pushback effect. The dodge rating adds some defense against melee classes too.
1.1.3 Weapons:
Witching Stave /drool
. This item is made for warlocks! (and spriest can also use it. But they suck anyway
) The stats on this is extremely nice +8 Int and +11 shadow damage. Best spell damage weapon for locks.
Night Watch Shortsword +4 Stamina. This is an option for the stamina stacking warlocks.
Dawnblade ( horde ) +5 Stamina. Better than the above weapon if you're stacking stamina. But this not available for alliance and is a quest reward.
Furbolg Medicine Pouch This is the reason of the two weapons mentioned above. This adds 10+ stamina (making a total of 14 (15 if horde) from weapons). This is time consuming to get and requiers someone to farm rep with the furblogs in Felwood. He only sells you this if you're honored with them (You die, the booster grinds, that way you won't get any XP, only rep).
1.1.4 Wand:
Gravestone Scepter This wand has insane dps, and the only rare quality wand with stats on it. +1 spirit and +5 shadow resistance. A very good wand for DPSing.
Banshee Rod of the Moon This is a good option for those who wants good stats on their wands instead of using it for DPSing. 1 sta and int in both suffixes, but ... of the Moon is superior for having +1 spell dmg instead of +1 spirit.
2.0.0 Enchants.
2.0.1 Head.
Enchant with either Libram of Constitution ( 100hp ) or Libram of Focus ( 8+ spell dmg and healing )
2.0.2 Shoulders.
(Only enchantable on white and gray items)
Resilience of the Scourge +11 Spell dmg and 5mp5 (5 mana per fifth second)
Power of the Scourge +15 spell damage and 14 spell crit rating.
Fortitude of the Scourge 16 stamina (awesome) and 100 armour.
These are alot harder to get than the Talbar Mantle, because these require you, and a few friends, to go into Naxxramas and be able to kill the boss/es. And then the droprate is not the best either ( 50% to get one of 4 ).
2.0.3 Back.
Not many enchants that benefit a warlock at these levels. But the one I'd go with would be
Greater Resistance For a little amount of resistance to all magic schools (+5, except Holy, wich has no resistance).
Lesser Shadow Resistance Gives +10 shadow resistance. Good against other warlocks and priests. Really nice when resisting a fear effect
Superior Defense
Adds 70+ armor, good against melee dps.
2.0.4 Chest.
The most used enchant for chests is
Major Health Adds 100 hp. Most used enchant for all twinks. The other option would be
Greater Stats Adds +4 to all stats. That would be 4sta, 4int and 4spi. (Other stats are useless for locks)
2.0.5 Bracers
Superior stamina Adds 9 stamina to your wrists. A really nice enchant and the most used one for caster twinks.
Healing Power This is another option for those who want's more spell damage. Adds 24 healing and 8 spell damage. I would go with the stamina enchant over this.
2.0.6 Hands.
Shadow Power The best enchant for a warlock. Adds a whooping 20 shadow damage.
2.0.7 Legs.
Runic Spellthread 35+ spell damage and 20 stamina. This is the best enchant for legs. Very expensive too, so if you don't want to pay this much you could use
Mystic Spellthread These add 25 damage and 15 stamina. Alot cheaper than the Runic ones.
Nethercleft Leg Armor Are the best in terms of stamina, but these lack a big chunk of spell damage so these are not recommended for DPSing. Could be used for flagrunning on another pair of legs. Adds 40+ sta and 12+ agi.
Clefthide Leg Armor Is the cheaper version and has 10 sta and 2 agi lesser than the Nethercleft.
2.0.8 Boots.
Minor Speed A very nice enchant for running the flag, and in general when running away from enemies or when chasing someone. Adds 8% speed.
Greater Stamina Adds 7+ stamina, a good chunk of stamina.
Boar's Speed This enchant can only be applied to the fishing boots. Gives both stamina and runspeed. 6 sta and 8% runspeed. Very nice enchant
Fortitude If you don't find it necessary to run faster, this is the enchant for you. Adds 12 stamina. Only usable on the fishing boots.
2.0.9 Weapons.
Spell Power Most useful enchant for any spell damage twink. Adds 30+ spell damage wich is alot.
Mighty Intellect Would be the second option. Not as useful as Spell Power but adds alot to your mana pool.
3.0.0 Talents.
There are not many different specs warlocks can benefit from at this level, but the most useful are listed below. Improved Corruption is a must in my eyes.
3.0.1
The Life Drain spec. 7/3/0
3.0.2
The Stamina spec 5/5/0
These two are the most common specs.
4.0.0 Tips and tricks.
Not gonna include a strategy section because everyone have different playstyles and tbh I don't really know what to do against some classes. It's all about the situation and quickly adapting to it.
4.0.1 Pets.
The imp is nice for its stamina boost and dps. But he can be slow against melee enemies.
The voidwalker is good against healers and other casters as it hits them and forces their spells to pushback. The Sacrifice spell is very good when you see your VWs healt drop. Also very good when being nuked by melee classes that pushes your fear back, you can sacrifice the VW and get that fear in when the enemy is trying to penetrate through your bubble
4.0.2 Spells.
I usually start with an Immolate if I see that I'll be able to finish it in time before the enemy reaches me. Followed by Curse of Agony and then Corruption. The order of CoA and Corr' isn't really that important, except the thing with CoA being that it deals more damage in the end of the DoT than in the beginning. Usually a fear after that and maybe some wanding/life draining.
I do not recommend you to use Shadowbolt because of it's long casting time, if you really feel like nuking someone down with spells dot them and use Searing Pain instead.
4.0.3 Consumables.
A must have is Rumsey Rum Black Label Increases your stamina by 15 and makes you drunk, so if you see other twinks, their level might be 18, instead of 19. But that is not the main reason to be drinking these. It's ofc the whooping 15 stamina
Minor Wizard Oil Adds 8+ spell damage to your weapon. Nice to push spell damage as high as you can.
4.0.4 Useful macros.
Pet attack macros are really useful. If I remember correctly the hotkey is CTRL+1 but you might want to put it somewhere else. You can use Dot macros are also very useful. I'm using one button to cast my instant dots using
Code:
/castsequence reset=target/combat Curse of Agony, Corruption
4.0.5 Trouble finding enchanters?
Some of these enchants might be hard to get as they are pre-tbc enchants from raids like MC and so on. A good way to find an enchanter is posting on your realmforums. I tried this and it worked better than spamming the trade for like a week or so
:P
4.0.6 Secondary professions.
First aid is a must have. Get it to 225 and have your main or someone else make you Heavy Runecloth Bandages. These will restore your full health in a few seconds. Heals a total of 2000, so it should be more than enough
4.0.7 Races.
Horde: Orc, Forsaken, Blood elf.
Orcs have improved pets. That's good, but not the best racial for warlocks in my opinion. They're also resistant to stuns wich is good.
Forsaken has WotF that is very good for a racial, you can break many CC abilites with this racial and they also have some shadow resistance and can regen by eating dead corpses (Yummy!)
Blood elves have a silencing aoe spell and can also drain a little bit of man from the enemy using another racial spell. They have a passive +5 resistance against all magic schools.
Alliance: Human, Gnome.
Humans have a racial that greatly increases their stealth detection and can be very useful against those sneaky rogues. Also has a a little more spirit than other races.
Gnomes can escape rooting effects with one of their racials and also have more intellect than other races. Their Engineering skill is also higher so getting the goggles is easier.
5.0.0 Misc
Here are some screenshots of our deadly damage
The World of Warcraft Armory

Hmm, can't find what more I should add to this guide. So I think this is it. Hope you find it useful.
