AoE Grinding with Mage 40+

This guide is a solo AoE grinding guide and we will be using imp Blizzard.



This guide is writen by me wile I was AoE grinding, so its not a guide from someone who think he knows how to AoE grind, that acctualy don't know what he is talking about.




The Spec

That is the spec I used when I started AoE grinding.

Minimum Required Level: 42
Required Talent Points: 33

Frost Talents - 33 point(s)

# Improved Frostbolt - rank 5/5
# Improved Frost Nova - rank 2/2
# Permafrost - rank 3/3
# Piercing Ice - rank 3/3
# Improved Blizzard - rank 3/3
# Arctic Reach - rank 2/2
# Shatter - rank 5/5

Killing


Buffs - MAGE armor, AI.

You don't want Ice Armor. The slow effect will mess the initial pull up. Don't worry about the armor you're missing. Ice Barrier will absorb it.



Pull -


At level 42, a great place to AoE grind is on the Wastewander Bandit

-Buff up.
-Make yourself a Mana Ruby, and put on Ice Barrier.
-Mount, and run into the mobs.
-After you have a few following you, start running circles. Doing this will make the mobs start to get closer and closer together. After you're content with the mob group. Dismount and Frost Nova.
*This is the hard part, and once you get this part down, you will be able to get off two complete blizzards before the mobs touch you*
-After the mobs are novad, run away and try to get maximum distance for blizzard. (Judging the distance is the part that takes practice) Do not take to long however, as the nova will break and you will not be able to get the snare effect from blizzard immediately.
-Blizzard again.
-The mobs should be right in your face.
-Blink through the mobs.
-Blizzard.
-Nova.
-CoC.
-All the mobs should be dead, if not they are at 5% life or lower. You will almost definately be oom, so use your wand to finish the few remaining off.

Remember, AoE kiting is not easy. This takes skill, practice and a large amount of patient, so don't stop AoE kiting only becouse you lack the skill. You can always learn it. You must also remember to kill atleast 8 mobs at a time. If you are not kiting 8 or more mobs at a time, you might as well solo kill, as the XP is the same.

edit: It is realy smart to use the AoE grinding wile questing.

has anyone compared the new improved quest exp vs aoe grind when it comes to exp/hour or leveling wise?

not bad i knew about aoe grinding just didnt know the talents thanks mate

Np. and thank you. forgot to add that it is smart to use the AoE grinding wile questing to couse then it goes faster to kill quest mobs

when i was leveling my mage (after the huge bonus quest exp/less exp to level patch) i preferred questing. In one night i went from like 33-38 or something. personally i think questing is better than AOE grinding (maybe its my short attention span...), but a nice little guide still.

Well. I do the quest that invole killing many in same place. therefor I do both quest and AoE grinding

At level 50 doing aoe it takes me about 1.5-2hours to level.
The problem is that other people also grinds the same mobs as me, so that slows things down.
