Detailed guide on quite possibly the the most fun combo a rogue could do in 2's.
Rogue/Rogue is one of the most technical 2v2 combinations for a rogue to play in. It requires a lot of teamwork, coordination, and even sometimes luck.. However, it is easily the most fun. All games will almost certainly end within 3 minutes, 5-7 minutes at the LONGEST if you're amazing at surviving.. so no Disc Priest or Resto Druid 20 minute mirror matches.
Racials:
The best racial for Rogue/Rogue is EASILY Human Perception. The ability to get an opener/cc on fellow stealthers will make or break many matches. I'd say second best is Will of the Forsaken for those double fear matches, and third is either Escape Artist or Stoneform. Orc Racial here is an xfactor, if you time it well it has the ability to be as good as WotF for applying extra pressure. It really depends.
SPEC:
Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
Either you or the other rogue must spec this. Imp expose armor is a must.
others are AR/prep or possibly seal fate hemo.
Gear and Gemming:
Gear is a huge requirement. No way around it. I wouldn't do it until you have around 250-300 resil from just your armor alone, as all your gems need to be contributing to DPS. Gem entirely DPS. Depending on your build either 16AP or 8Agi Red, 8Ap 4Crit Yellow, 4agi 6sta blue. Even better if you have BT gems, to squeeze out every little point of dps possible. Overbudgeted PVE gear like Ashtongue exalted trinket, Cursed Vision of Sargeras and Madness of the Betrayer are HUGE plusses.
UI:
I suggest the following mods.. you can find them all by Google:
Natur Enemy Cast Bar
Proximo
Afflicted
Quartz
Strategies:
I'll go from the more common matches to the less common ones. Typically the easiest matches ARE the more common ones, however remember every match is possible if you keep a clear head and devise a strategy.
Warrior/Druid vs Rogue/Rogue.
Easiest possible match for you, I'd say. This match you start off splitting DPS. If one of you has perception, the other opens on the warrior and draws the druid out with evasions/ghostly strike while tanking the warrior. He'll do minimal DPS here due to the massive dodge and parry from the rogue. When the druid pops out, Rogue #2 opens on him and applies early pressure. The druid cannot heal through 2 people's damage on 2 targets, especially with stuns/kicks on him.
Whoever trinkets something first should get blinded, and then you can focus dps and kill the other. If it comes down to the 2 of you and the warrior with both of you having no cooldowns.. Don't do anything retarded. One of you lets the other get away to bandage while kiting/LOSing him. Then the other comes and peels while you bandage. A warrior can kill a rogue by accident, and with sweeping strikes it's entirely possible for them to kill both before you realize what has happened.
Warlock/Druid vs Rogue/Rogue.
This one is tricky. Very tricky. If the Warlock has Perception, he'll spot you a mile away with paranoia unless you're really good at waiting it out. After this they'll go wait by the stealth sight whenever it pops up. You've got to beat them to this. Focus the druid hard, if you cannot find the druid right off the bat, have the decoy open on the lock and wait for the druid to come out.
Most locks are 'FotM' locks, so he might do something stupid like trinket Mace Stun, and once the druid pops out.. Blind the lock and go Ape %%#@ on him. Don't let him get away. Having prep helps here.
If the druid isn't drawn out easily, and the lock starts getting 'low ish', have Rogue #2 pop out on him. a double blind on the druid (time them) with a double Kidney on the lock is enough to win.
Both methods work, but it's favorable to kill the druid.
[Shadow] Priest/Rogue vs Rogue/Rogue
This one is in the bag right off the bat if you can get a sap on the rogue. Try to get #2 to get a sap on the spriest, then gib the rogue while controlling the priest. If the priest ever runs into melee, it's pretty obvious he's going to fear so either vanish the fear or use cloak if you have to. Stagger kidneys/vanish cheap shots on the rogue, keeping him locked down. A shadow priest cannot heal through all of your damage.
If you cannot find the rogue, it's very possible to win still. One opens with cheap shot, other opens with garrote on the priest. Stagger kidneys, the rogue will try very hard to peel here but blind + vanish sap + blind should be enough to put away any Shadow Priest.
[Pain Supression] Priest/Rogue vs Rogue/Rogue
This is tough, but becomes much MUCH easier if you can CC the rogue from the beginning. Both go full out on the priest, with Expose Armor kept up. Staggering Kidney Shots, blowing trinkets, everything. Once your CC has expired, use Blade Flurry as the rogue will have no where to go and be taking a ridiculous amount of damage that isn't dodgable/parriable.
If you cannot get opening CC on the rogue, it becomes the same basic strategy, only have Rogue 2 wait and Cheap Shot the rogue, then Slice and Dice and Blade Flurry and move to the priest. If the rogue trinkets CS like a retard, both should click off BF (make a /cancelaura macro if you have to) and blind/sap/blind. Same basic principle. Expose Armor. Lots of pressure. Kicks. Staggered stuns.
[Resto] Druid/Rogue vs Rogue/Rogue
This depends entirely on whether or not you can get the opener on the druid. Cloak + Nature's Swiftness can undo a LOT of your work, so you have to stay on the druid while trying to CC the rogue and while he's not Cced using Blade Flurry to force heals on him too. Stagger kidneys, druid should go down.
If you don't get the opener on the druid, you can basically kiss it goodbye. Once the rogue gets low, he'll cloak off wound poison, get Nsed back to full and then proceed to wreck you once your cooldowns are gone. Maybe a double Mutilate combination could make this work, if they both had Renataki. Either way, it will be tough.
Warrior/Paladin vs Rogue/Rogue
This match, as with all paladin matches will be completely gay. COMPLTELY GAY. Your best bet here is to focus the warrior while trying to CC (lol) a Paladin (LOL) because a Warrior will kill you before the first bubble fades on the pally if he's not forced to sword/board.
A good paladin will start with BoSac on the warrior right off the bat, and keep it up. This is going to hamper your ability to get him. Try to use Afflicted or NeCB to get a timer on it and sap/blind when it's down.
This is one of those fights where you absolutely cannot tunnel vision, communicate on vent and time your kicks and gouges on the paladin during his heals.
If the pally blows his bubble on CC, you have an honest to god chance, and can kick the pally during BoP while deadly poison ticks away and prevents the bandage from happening.
If the paladin gets a heal kicked, this is your only chance.
I recommend carrying a second offhand for this and shivving on at least one stack of deadly poison and keeping it up the entire match for one reason: Blessing of Protection. If the warrior gets BoPed, he can get a full bandage off if you don't keep up that 1 stack of DP. Only one has to use it, though. If you're a rogue with Vile Poisons/Cold Blood, it could be worth it to hit him with an Envenom while he's BoPed, Literacola style.
Warlock/Paladin vs Rogue/Rogue
Another match that is ENTIRELY GAY. You have almost no room for error, you have to rotate CC on the paladin while rotating kicks while continuing to apply pressure to the lock. Blade Flurry is important here, the pet will have to attack one of you and thus he'll always be taking damage from BF. Just don't break your own or your partners CC. Again, against paladins it might be worth it to carry the second offhand to keep up at least one Deadly Poison for BoP, because otherwise it's a full bandage.
Again, if the pally blows his bubble on CC, you've got a chance.
Rogue/Mage vs Rogue/Rogue
This match really depends on whether or not you can get the rogue early. If you can seperate him from the mage, you can stagger stuns while keeping a one point rupture up on the rogue and shut him completely out. Cloak incoming Poly, Vanish another, LoS LoS LoS.
If you can't get on the rogue right off the bat, this will be a disaster. There are so many frost mage movies showing them owning 1-5 rogues in one clip, and they didn't have/need help. It's basically the same thing. Force an early iceblock, kill the pet during IB.. Try not to get stunned in LoS, and if its convenient and the rogue and mage get seperated, both of you get on the rogue.
[Shadow] Priest/Lock
This is one of those matches where you can be all over either target, and both will do well. Try to get a sap on the shadow priest while gibbing the Lock. Double Blade Flurry will kill the pet and take Soul Link out of the equation, Expose Armor will allow you both to apply incredible pressure.
Again if the priest runs into melee range, use Cloak to avoid the AoE fear. If you're cocky enough, vanish it.
[Discipline] Priest/Lock
Easy match, or bad match depending on your luck. Get a sap on the priest, both go on the lock. Double Blade Flurry to kill the pet. Pressure, pressure, pressure is the name of the game. If you cannot force a trinket on the sap, then you better get it on the first blind, and if you don't link the second one and then get ready to peel off and kick gheal/gouge the priest.
When the priest runs into melee, Cloak/Vanish to avoid the fear. Blah blah blah.
Warrior/Shaman
Do people still play this matchup? Kill the warrior, Shaman has no way out of your CC now. So sap, blind, blind vanish sap should be enough to put him away before NS can even go out. Make sure to kill Poison Cleansing, Windfury, and Earthbind
