[Guide] How-To get in a good guild.

    Hello everyone,

I used to be a hard-core raider and have been in the best guilds of several servers and not 1 application of mine failed I was never rejected by any guild so I thought that maybe I could share my wisdom with you : ). This is by no way a cheap way to try to get rep I've had several people thank me for these tips when I gave them ingame some people really don't know how to act in a new guild and/or how to fill out an application.

    1. Know your Guild: I suggest you add the Officers and Guildmaster to your friendslist and check out what they do. Check what they do when they're not raiding, are they doing dailies? Are they running Heroics? Are they doing nothing and just sitting around in Shattrath? You need to know that because when you are in the application-period you will do exactly what they do. If you do what they do, they'll think you're one of them. Don't say anything like "lolz we do exactly the same thing." because then they'll see you're kissing their ass. The key is to kiss their ass but not let them know you are.

Check their forums as often as possible. Go trough every freaking trash thread and see what kind of humor the guild uses. See who is friends with whom, see if there is any internal fights between certain guildmembers. See what the guild is lacking and what the guild does well. Are people not showing up on time but very giving? Are people always showing up on time but never share gold/items with the guild bank? What needs improvement and what does not need improvement in the guild? You should know before you even get in.

After you've gotten to know all that ask yourself if that's the kind of guild you would ENJOY being in and if you can keep up with them. Do you play as much as they do and would you have fun with them? Do you like their humor? If not, stay away from them. If they make jokes about black people and you are black and don't like those kind of jokes chances are you will eventually explode and fight with some of the members. If it's in your trial-application time it's bad but even worse if you are already a member of the guild. Nothing worse than having enemies in your own guild.

    2. So you've decided that Guild "x" is the one?

Then it's time to fill out your application form. Check what kind of gear requirements they want you to have and match ALL of them. The best chance of getting in the guild is with your first application, if you get rejected from the guild because you don't meet the gear requirements chance are allot less you'll get in the guild if you want to try app'ing again, since they already know you and in their head you'll be "The guy with shitty gear". Match ALL of the requirements before you even fill out your app. The most annoying thing for a Guildmaster/Officer to read is: "PS.: I'm not attuned for x, y BUT I PROMISE I'M WORKING ON IT!".

Now after you've checked that, make sure you fill out your application in a way that you don't look like an idiot. Which means perfect english, no stupid 1337 speak, no trying to be funny by linking funny videos. You don't go into a job-interview making jokes to win over the boss with your humor do you? Be direct and simple, tell them what you're all about, why you want to join the guild, and most importantly: What you have to offer. Because guess what, it's not all about YOU getting loot, you have to give something in return. If you have nothing to offer you will NOT get in. The best geared healer isn't worth shit if he isn't a helpful guy that gladly helps his guildies and contributes to the guild bank. Gear is important, but in a good guild everyone has good gear anyway, so you need to find other ways to stand out. Tell them rare patterns you might have for your professions and your experience in WoW.

    3. ZOMG bashy I got inz lolo!

First of all, congrats that you got in but I'm afraid that's only 10% of the way. Good guilds have like 5 applicants and only pick 1 or 2 or even none. Get this into your head: The other 5 applicants are your ENEMIES. They want your spot and they don't give a crap if you get in or not all they want is the spot for themselves HOWEVER, have you ever heard of the phrase: "Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer"? This applies in WoW aswell. Be friendly with the other applicants, don't be an idiot and tell the officers what they did wrong they'll only think you're a dickhead that is so desperate to get into the guild that he will do anything, besides the officers see EVERYTHING. Don't think there aren't people who are spying on you and the other applicants checking what you're doing.

USE VENTRILO! I can't stress this enough, listening is NOT enough. Now be careful with what you say, you aren't trying to pick up any freaking lady so don't go ahead and babble all possible shit in ventrilo and tell them how you tackled a bear when you are 17 because your g/f was scared or how you got a dildo stuck in your butthole because you were curious when you were 15, they don't care. Yes they might laugh at your stories but you're not there to entertain anyone, you're there to proof you're good enough to be in the guild. If you don't know what to do during fight "x" ASK ON VENT, however don't be an idiot and not listen what the Raidleader says then ask 2 minutes later something that has already been answered, Officers pick up on that.

For the first few days only talk the essential stuff, you don't wanna look like the guy that wants to make friends with everybody to get himself into the guild because he's so friendly and cool, you wanna be the guy that slowly starts fitting into the guild and becoming a member. After 1-2 weeks you want members to think "Damn I almost forgot that x is an applicant, felt like he's been a member for a long time." Now here's the BIGGEST MISTAKE I see most people doing. They try to act like the insiders. They pop out internal jokes, call the guildleader homie, makes dirty jokes on vent and after he doesn't get in he doesn't know why. Well guess what, you're not supposed to act like you're already in the guild because YOU'RE NOT! Just be a cool guy that gets along with everyone and slowly is becoming a member.

If you're shy and don't like talking on vent then grow some balls, you're talking to 20-25 geeks and if you want to be one of them TALK on vent. If you don't, people won't notice you at all and it will be as if you never existed.

    4. Life of an applicant..

You are the scum of the guild, you'll be doing all the dirty work. Running gay instances for stupid alts, collecting herbs for pots for the guild for hours and not getting anything in return, giving the guildbank stuff and not being able to take anything from it. That's part of the game, it's how you start and you better start liking it. If they don't tell you to do what I just said up there, then do it anyway. Give the guild herbalist herbs to help out, bring repair bots. Bring extra Pots for everybody. Be helpful but DON'T expect anyone to thank you. Act like you just enjoy helping everybody and that's just who you are even if it's a lie.

    5. How to be a Pro

So you're an applicant in a guild that runs BT and you have never been there? Guess what, they won't ****ing explain you all the bosses all over again, you'll need to figure it out yourself. Now you're a lucky bastard because there's a site named Main Page - WoWWiki - Your guide to the World of Warcraft that will basically explain you every single boss. Know the bosses inside out, know all their spells and don't be an idiot and **** up, because the other applicants won't. If you do **** up, don't be a ****ing dumbass and say in raidchat "ZOMG THIS WAS MY FAULT I DID X, Y AND Z!!! ILL JUST /GQUIT." There's a big chance nobody saw you messed up. If you do a huge mistake and the guildleader asks on vent "WHO DID X?" SHUT UP AND DON'T SAY ANYTHING, unless you're absolutely sure an officer or member saw you messing up.

Hope this helps some people, there is allot more to be written and I will update this when I have more time. Good luck and be good!

Pretty much. The problem isn't that 99% of the people are idiots in WoW, most just aren't used to the whole "internet-communication", they don't realize how stupid they can look talking shit on vent because nobody gives them a bad look like in real life. Also most people haven't been officers or guildmasters of a big guild themselves and don't know what they want. The whole idea of being in a guild is unfamiliar to most people.

So what's the point of this guide again? You lost me with the fantasy of people getting into good guilds with an application and ass kissing, even if you get in; you are probably going to be /gkick'ed; lieing to your guild isn't going to make it better, with the new combat log, they will catch your mistakes; endgame is about being on the top-performance always, there is no 'easy-way' or 'shortcut', either you handle it, or you don't.

90% of players in WoW are terribad, they don't listen, they don't follow orders; they don't put in more than the guild puts out.

This guide is meh; but seriously if you want to get into a good guild, know your guildmasters, run instance with them; know their alts.

It's how I got into a guild which has already got the 2nd boss of Sunwell down, and the third to 15%.

All the hints you just posted there are in the guide, have you even read anything? If you're already in an endgame guild obviously this guide is useless to you since you already know how to get into one. If I go teach Mike Tyson how to Box with my 2 years of training he's gonna tell me that all I know is basic stuff, but teaching it to someone that doesn't know anything could make a big difference. Do you get my point? This guide isn't for everyone, if you read it and find it useless, congratulations, you know more than most people.
