4.2 Death Knight tanking. blood spec ftw.

As I continue to keep my dk my main I shifted focus onto tanking. I picked up tanking as frost then into blood during wrath, keeping blood as I progressed into Cata. Now Ive had alot of ppl tell me Im doing this wrong, Im doing that wrong. Why do you have this talent point vs this talent point. Its getting old. I have had no real huge issues with my spec, my rotation, or the way im gemmed/chanted/reforged.

Druagar @ Illidan - Game - World of Warcraft <-------------- there is a link to my armory page, just hope you catch it at the right time otherwise your looking at a really shitty dps lol.

So let me ask, is it bad to have 2.2k mastery? Even when your not hit capped. I had 2 +40 hit gems that got me alot closer and my ds didnt seem to miss as much.(later replaced for more mastery) I put out about 8-10 ds a minute. have an amazing blood shield (curse addon called blood shield tracker) Not to mention Im not illiterate with the class either. I dont have any issue holding threat unless im pulling a mob bigger then 5-6 npc's deep. (no consecration like a pally) and boss tanking is a cinch. So what are people so bugged about the way Im doing things.

Helpful and useable advice would be nice. Trolls should go find another forum.

Okay, my main is DK who tanks constantly in his offspec, which is at a quite decent level, so i know what im talking about.

Thing is, you have to balance between threat and survival. First of all, as with all tanks, you gotta gem Stamina until you reach the point when you can survive all boss hits/abilities that you are meant to survive - there is no preset number, you just have to see this yourself depending on your gear and what content you are doing. After thats done with, you actually get choices.

If we are talking about gems, then the current argument is in favor of stacking Mastery or Dodge/Parry gems. Both dodge and parry scale and diminish at exactly same rate, so just pick whichever. Mastery provides higher absorb from DS, and so is quite useful as well. Again, decide depending on your encounters and gear. If you find yourself struggling with threat, however, you can try and get a few socket bonuses with expertise gems. Remember, that until expertise softcap expertise is nearly twice as good as hit rating (dodge AND parry), so use them instead of hit ones. Dont overgem though - you will not have threat issues mid or end-fight, its just for the beginning, but the dodge/mastery will last you whole fight.

If we are talking about gear, then you want as much mastery as possible, followed by avoidance (dodge/parry). If you have some hit or expertise on gear, you can reforge out of it - and keep a small threat bonus.
Not many tanks are hit / exp capped. In fact, our MT (and we are one of high-ranked guilds) is missing a lot of both ratings. In dungeons and 10mans this might be an issue. in 25mans you have tricks and misdirects and so forth, and vengeance accumulates a bit faster, so its all groovy. So, repeating myself, this depends on your current situation.

On looking at your char screen i have some questions though. You reforge out of mastery dodge and hit into mastery dodge and hit. Really? Just pick one and stick to it, otherwise you are just wasting it. Reforging helm hit->mastery, and shoulder mastery->hit for example, or reforging bracer parry -> dodge. Thats just weird man.

About talents - these seem fine, i would just say that IBT is nto as good as it appears to be, and you might want consider swapping it to Abom's might or BCB. Also... why do you have prime Howling blast glyph? o.O Gogo replace it with DRW!
