Yes, there is a bit of a need, when you believe that Divine Purpose and Eye for an Eye are needed.
I mean, in all honesty, those weren't the really bad choices. Eye for an Eye isn't bad. It's just dangerous in 1v1, and in Arena, there's not too much of a chance of a "crit" caster attacking you over your partners.
The problems were:
No 3/3 Imp SotC- Kinda odd, esp. if you are doing 3v3 (where you want to help increase damage as much as possible).
No 2/2 Imp. SA- Very odd, once again, if you are going to do arena without helping your partners do more damage.
No 2/2 GF- Very ridiculous to not have 2/2.
No 3/3 Vindication- Asinine, in a word.
No Imp. RF- It's going to help you out more than Toughness. Even if it can be dispelled, that's a static 6% reduction from all sources over MAYBE a 3% reduction only from melee attacks.

Hmm i see. Personaly i wouldn't go for 3/3 SotC, since i am mostly using JoJ in arena, and / or seal twisting it anyway. I agree with you completely, apart from you're Divine Purpose fieldi am one point over capped anyway.
This is how i would spec for PvP / DPS

Take one point out of Sanctified Seals. With 100% resistance, they are removed from the dispel table. With 2/3 SS, you get 97% dispel resistance from that+Stoicism, and it's still on the dispel table, so Seals become a non-dispellable buff to a highly, highly resistant buff that protects other buffs.
