Detaching a Battle.Net Account

I was wondering if I could detach a Battle.Net account from a normal WoW account without getting it banned.

Maybe if you call the WoW helpdesk?

You have to call Blizzard and know the secret question and secret answer attached to the original World of Warcraft account, but it is possible.
