Question about retail theft consequences

I recently went into target and I stole a gamecard

I went in, I took the card out of the box, i scratched the code off and i wrote it on my phone's notepad and i threw it somewhere behind like a immovable metal box.

I come outside and the security guard steps in front and so does the manager with the open box in his hand and says

"Can I help you with something?"

I'm like no i'm fine

he says "well ok, we'll follow you outside"

so they're hounding me by the sensors, I walk through them and nothing beeps at all.

Question is, will they or can they still catch me?

I would suggest just not to go to that target for awhile .

But Im pretty sure they won't do anything just do it a lil more carefully next time

lol i stole 4 cd keys a while back from walmart and one of those undercover shoppers went over and picked up the 4 boxs and noticed they were opened and the cd key was missing and the discs but i threw away the discs and hid the cd keys in that super tiny pocket in your pocket and when i was walking it nothing beeped but the lady ran up and started asking me why they were opened im like i dont know maybe you have mice being a smartass and she kept on baggering me if i took anything and im like not but i havent been back there for like 4 months but i still got my cd keys eventhourgh she scared the shit out of me when she ran up in my face

Well I think for shop lifting um lets see something like WoW cd keys and such would be 2 maybe 3 days in jail a overpriced tamagatchi you going to get sent in their for 2 monthes xD EDIT:Also social engineering helps alot when that happens btw to bad the T-shirt I wear most of the time gives it way *points to my avatar* thats what it says xD

You got lucky, they probably had no idea that the value of that item was purely based on the code you entered into your cellphone.

I wouldn't go back for a while, but I don't think they would hunt you down if they found out.
If your under age the most they can do to you is community service/counseling and putting that on your record (which would SUCK when your trying to get a job later)

they wont do shit to you. when i was lik 15 i got caught doing the same thing at walmart the escurity ****** came outside and said he caught me on camera and shit and i just ran off 6 years later im still chilln (lol i feel like i got away on murder)
