    paypal scam

    paypal scam
alright this is a short guide that tells how to get peoples account using pay pal

    1. make sure you have about 600-700 dollars on the account (keep in mind you wont loose 1 cent)

    2. search through an account trading website for someone selling a descent account(i use markee dragon but for better results i would find a diffrents site because everyone scams on markee.)

3.after talking to them on aim or msn and you come to an agreement on how much he wants. tell him "ok i will send full payment first, then you give me the info and email change."

    4. here is the scam pay pal does not see world of warcraft accounts as a tangible item therefore the seller is not protected with pay pal. i was talking to one of there represenitives when i learned this.

******lol i asked the lady "So i could go around scamming peoples accounts like this."

******here reply "yes if the buy/seller is aware that we do not cover this type of item."

    ****** my face>>>> LAWL

    5. now that you know that paypal doesnt cover the guys character withdraw your payment and it looks better if your a verified pay pal user because there is a little more trust between you and pay pal.

have fun sorry if its a repost and if anyone has anything to add by all means go for it

i think someone is currently trying to use this scam on me. he is verified and already send me the money. I'm still waiting for the payment to be cleared (not sure if this will prevent the scam). Is it anyway I can prevent his scam? I don't know what he is doing but he is a very shady person. He doesn't have any phones or cellphone.

    its a scam
if you gave your info to him im sorry dont sell accounts to people that dont have any trade ratings or low status within the trade community

i learned this scam by that happening to me but hey at least i can use it now

rember pay pal DOES NOT COVER WORLD OF WARCRAFT ACCOUNTS so if your selling a scammed account i would proably suggest selling it to one of those websites you get less but its guarenteed

im pretty sure sending the money to your bank wont work because since you are the seller and there is no seller protection for wow accounts paypal will take the money from your bank

yea but you know how if its a large ammount of money being sent pay pal has to make sure the buyer really did pay for it

have you got the money in your account before and not have it taken out

wht you consider large amount of money is not wht paypal consider large amount(500$ is not a lot for paypal to worry about)... also paypal doesnt care whether you sent the guy money because you bought something or ur just sending it, all they care about is just that the money gets where its suppose to go. Sure you can do a complaint but as you said: " pay pal does not see world of warcraft accounts as a tangible item therefore the seller is not protected with pay pal"

anyways lets hope we get some1 who doesnt know this ;-)
and we get a free acc with all info

As someone stated above a very easy way to protect yourself from this is to never give the info \ gold \ item your selling until you move the money from your paypal account to your bank account. Your the Banks customer and if you have good history they always will side with you and not let Paypal touch the money. Paypal can indeed make a request to withdraw the money from your bank, but your bank will contact you by phone \ mail before it does anything and learn your side of the story. The worst thing that will happen is paypal closes your account with them that is attached to your name \ credit card, and you would be forced to make a new one to deal with paypal again.

actually i find this easier usually when you buy something for a large ammount $500.00 plus pay pal will give you a little call and ask you if these payments are correct. this is when you say. "WTF no i want it reversed then tell them you want to put your account on hold for 24 hours so you can change the pass and everything haha

ok also if anyone is selling an account the only way to safe guard yourself from this scam is simple

instead of having them send you a payment click the request money tab and do the transaction that way. by doing this you get a reciept that will have proof of purchase for paypal when they come asking

    HAPPY SCAMMING!!!

yes, however, how much of a chance would the buyer have to chargeback the money after you sent it to your bank? Also, I just dont understand why people say that you could get into ALOT of trouble for this. First off, the buyer is doing something that is against the terms and conditions from blizzard as is the seller (technically I guess).. and 5-600 dollars, isn't such a huge amount of money to attract attention. Furthermore, you can also look at it this way.

seller sells account info, and the buyer does recieve the account info, but claims that the info is false. the seller can just say, "well I can't get into my account anymore, so you must've changed it".. what can a buyer actually do to prove that the info he recieved was false, or that he actually isn't trying to scam the seller? There isn't anyway for the buyer to prove anything at all, since the account information doesnt have any tracking number or anything to trace it.

pretty much, the scammer can just as easily act the role of the victim in this situation. he can just say that the buyer is trying to scam him, that he (scammer) sent his account info, and now since he can't access it, which of course means the buyer did get the info, is now just trying to scam the seller.

there is nothing that either the buyer or seller can prove or provide that shows that either side is guilty. the buyer can just as easily be labeled as a scammer as the seller

This scam works perfectly IF... the buyer is not paying via credit card and issues a chargeback. Then you're screwed whatever.
But if funds are from paypal you're not covered for payment of intangible goods.
