Great Gold Scam

Ok so I thought of this last night and tried it out, it worked very well. Not sure about if its bannable or not, but so far nothing has happened. Here is what you do.

1.) Use 2 accounts

2.) Have a level 70 character (preferably an alt whose reputation you dont care about)

3.) Create a level 1 alt with a name very similar to your characters
Example : Loxiali and Loxilai (you get the idea)

4.)Park your level 70 in front of the org AH sign and your level 1 somewhere else in org that is out of sight, like cleft of shadow or whatever

5.) Long on the level 1. Find someone in trade chat that is saying wtb belt of blasting or nethercobra leg armor, have mats, pst. Whipser them and tell them you will do it for free.

6.) Tell them you are in front of the auction house sign and to hurry because you need to log

7.) It does not work everytime but now what will typically happen is they will go up and trade with the level 70 (thinking its the person that messaged them cause it looks like the same name and is in that spot) the mats required to make the item. Accept the items and do not say anything, the items are now yours to keep.

I'm pretty sure this is not bannable if you use seperate accounts because if someone just trades you items for no reason you are not required to give them back. However it will hurt your rep on that server

lol it is smart hope it isnt a repost now im going to rep you because it is well thought out but it won't work at all lemme tell you why.

1. the person will report you immediately after the trade
2. a GM will investigate and they try to talk to you saying that it was a mistake and to give the mats back (trust me theyve told me that before)
3. if you sign off you will get banned perm maybe suspended
4. The victim will always shift click the level 1 and be like yeah i doubt a level 1 can do the recipe.

so you can't do this scam however i did like how you thought it out as i said before i hope this isn't a repost.

you actually do have the right to keep the items, I've petitioned a GM when i sent a stack of large prismatics to my alt but ended up making a typo in the name. I noticed it the second after i sent it and the GMs told me they can not force the player to give the items back and it will be up to him if he wants to send them back.

In your case it is different because you simply sent them without an agree or anything but in this case you are agreeing with the victim to trade the mats in return for a recipe item since you accept them what can you tell the GM that will defend your case?

But they didnt agree to trade with you, it was someone else, if you randomly trade something with a person you cant get it back. But like I said I tried this last night and it worked twice. I will update you guys with how it goes and if I am forced to give anything back or not.

Ya so far so good been about 2 days and all has been well and i've been able to keep everything..... I will update if that fact ever changes.
