Players with wide-screens or half a brain won't fall for this...
Impersonating a GM is a permanent account closure.
DO NOT USE THIS GUIDE - NOT WELL THOUGHT OUT AND DOESN'T WORK VERY OFTEN. YOU CAN ALSO GET EASILY BANNED FOR IT.
Well, take into account before you read this that you may get a 72 hour suspension (or worse) for this.
I was reading the "Tis The Season" scam, and I thought of a better way to do this.
You find a level 70 that is selling something, and try to scope someone out that is not in the best of gear. You PM him asking for a price or asking him a question about the item. As you do this (you can choose to do it on the first question or later in the conversation) you use the chat box trick where you press space after you type something to impersonate a GM.
Example:
[Seller]: WTS [Item] Pst!
[You]: hey man!!! iw ould like to buy that how much? ( add in spaces)[Name]: Greetings [Seller], there has been some issues with your account lately.
Carry the conversation out with the seller, and add in a GM whisper where you think necessary. Try to type with bad grammar/spelling when you PM the seller under your name and use good grammar/spelling after the GM tag.
If the guy falls for it, you can ask him for all of the account info, including the SQA (and maybe even convince him to change his e-mail to yours as a "precaution").
I will read over this a little bit later to edit out typo's or repetitiveness, and sorry if this is a repost. Hope you all do well
Good luck!
Edit: I was just thinking this through, and to make it a little better - you could have him forward the info to an e-mail address you gave him (unless he actually replies to you with /r and doesn't realize he is sending it to you). Make the e-mail something like [email protected] or whatever - maybe even a private domain if you can get on one.
Like I said, most people don't use a wide screen (as far as I know). As for people with half a brain - that is why I said look for people with not so great gear. Yes although this doesn't make them less intelligent than an epicced character, they may be a little more newer to the game/fall for this easier.

What is this.. an EZ-Ban scam? >.>
How will he reply to the GM if there is no GM?
Richard rules!
Only one word.... "Pointless"![]()
A Dynamic Dns from dyndns.com hits Hamachi LogMeOn in the face....Hamachi Dies! Dynnds Ftw!
This scam does not work at all...the player cannot reply to the non-existent name or the
so GG![]()
Roses are Blue, Violets are Red, I'm crap with colors, but killer in Bed.
This wouldn't work because the GM your faking does not exist so he can't whisper the GM your faking and can't give you the Account information..
Hahahaha Omg..
Epic. Fail.
I believe what the OP is saying is when the player goes to reply when he types "/r" it will go to the last person who said something to him (which is you the scammer). This would only work on someone's retarded nephew's dog's chew toy.....
also another good point is this post sucks and lacks common sense and has not been tested by the op and the op is trying to farm rep
Gm impersonating hardly works anyway >.>. It happens on private servers all the time and nearly no one is silly enough to fall for it.
Now that is one fat Tauren!
