well, thanks for the tips![]()
Hehe, looks like I'll have to contribute on me new account seeing as I got banned on my other one, I searched around abit, didn't find anything like this, I might have just missed it, if I did, flame on!
(woops, looks like there was a thread with some tips in it, I'll post some extras though)
Tips on Account scamming:
1. Find a proper website with Account to Account trading, make sure they have some kind of rep/honesty system, £bur.d|< (can't post websites ;<) is a good choice.
2. You need to find a suitable victim, using the rep/honesty system, find someone with no successful trades, no rep or no honesty (By that I mean no-one who got a friendly rating, nor a "dishonest" rating. This is mostly the main factor in any successful scam, if they have traded alot, they'll know your silly tricks, I learned this the hard way, got one of my acc scamming mails reported on £bur.
3. Decide what character you want, if you're gonna try and rent it to a website for cash/powerlevling, make sure it's either one of the following classes: Rogue, Mage or Warlock, basically thats the only classes they rent (unless they're Vovgame, which you all know by now will scam your socks off), if this doesn't matter, just pick anyone. Make sure to not pick someone uber geared.
4. First rule of everything, pick the weak link, choosing someone who you think will be hard to scam is not your top choice (this is common sense though, just felt like adding it, you can try if you're a very experienced scammer though)
5. First of all, read through their post on the website, check the following things: Their knowledge of the English language, their gear, (as mentioned, their rep/successful trades), how much information they give out and finally, if an email is posted, and it has a number in it (like zomgpwnyou_90), this might help you determine their age.
6. Finally, being able to speak proper english helps alot.
Hint: If you're trying to scam an account to rent it to a website for money, me and probably alot of other people can tell you this: Don't, they'll either scam you and steal all your shit or won't give you any money at all then ignore you. Make sure you ask for something else than gold/money on your paypal account, mmoteam upgrades trial accs to TBC and levels them to 70 if they can borrow your acc, this is being well tested by myself, current level after first 12 hours: 19. Waiting for them to upgrade it to Wow retail in a level
Now, why?
- Finding a victim, low rep/no successful trades: This is common sense, and I explained earlier why, but I'll repost so you can read it again and absorb this knowledge I'm trying to teach you. If they have 0 recorded successful trades on the website, this will most likely help you scamming them, they won't know your tricks as well as someone who traded alot, I'd suggest a maximum of 2 successful trades to even stand a chance of scamming them.
- Their knowledge in english: If they do not speak proper english, this might make it easier because: They're either a child or they're retarded (I'm not biased :<), I'm not saying this makes it all 100% home-free, but it can help alot achieving your goal.
- Picking characters: Do not pick someone who has shitloads of epics, because that makes the chance bigger they wont fall for the scam, mostly because they have played alot longer than someone in bad gear, they will have greater knowledge in different scam tecniques most of the time.
- Age, plays a major factor, if you're able to obtain information on this subject, use it to your advantage, a child will be easier to scam than an adult, this is mostly because it's kinda proven you get smarter when you grow older (common sense, once more)
- Finally, your knowledge in the English language will also factor in alot, this is kinda psychological, speaking english properly will establish a greater deal of trust, you won't get any accounts saying "u gief acc n pw 1st den i giev mine plz kk ?".
Some other basic stuff, some of them posted in another thread.
- Make sure you're wellprepared for your journey, bring food! ;D
- Make sure you talk to your victim for a long time, establishing trust is a major factor in all kinds of scamming
- Don't get nervous, bail out if you can't take the heat, practice makes perfect.
- Using voice chat also establishes trust, this might help you on your way to your new account, people will feel more safe when talking to you in person, not over some IM service.
- Trust no one, I've ended up with three people trying the same scam I was using on them xD As mentioned by the other guy who posted some tips, it's a dog eat dog world.
- Never block your victim, they'll get totally suspicious, try and come up with an excuse, like you don't know why, you did everything and all the account details are accurate, this will perhaps buy you some extra time before they qq to blizzard to get everything you want done, aka sell it, strip it off gold and items or rent to a trustable site to get yourself a new acc/$ (CREDITS TO SINEATER213, thanks for the tip dude)
BASIC RULE:
Never use the same email address for scamming, if you got your victim off a well-known trade site they will report you for it, this will hurt you so bad.
Switch emails everytime you find a new person, this is a safety precausion, do not register the email in your name, this info can be stolen by some random haxxor on the trading site, I got a phonecall in the middle of the night by a random guy telling me to **** my mom and get him his account back xD.
Anyways, cheers
