What's up man, awesome guide but I have a quick question. I sold my account back in January 07 and gave the guy my secret question and answer to change all the contact info with. I even found an email with the confirmation of him changing my email to his, as well as my phone number to his, and I had clicked the link that verified that it was okay.

Here is the deal though, I never gave him the authentication key and I have it, but I don't know exactly how the account retrieval process works. Sadly I forgot my secret question and answer too. Should I email blizzard with my old email address and say it was compromised and tell them my old info and authentication key? I'm US if it helps. Haha, I hope I can scam it back now that you helped me realize it might be possible.

Good guide , few questions though...

What if your not the original owner of the account and you don't have the CD-KEY. What would be the best way to go around taking the account back? I sold my 70 rogue a month or so ago and was already planning on taking it back. I never gave SQ/A as I stated I would mail it to them after 30 to prevent them from a paypal chargeback. So I was going to retrieve account's new password , account is still in my EMAIL. Then just use blizzards new Change name feature so the buyer can't trace where it went.

My only concerns are that he will call up blizzard and just say that "so and so account name is a scammer" and they will lock account until further review which will eventually lead to them needing ID (which I don't have since not original owner).

Any tips or suggestions on how to go about getting this one back would be GREATLY appreciated!

Ya I'm just thinking he would be bound and determined to ruin the account if I just straight scam him like that. Check the thread I just made , took me a few hours of thought but found a way.

There is a fool proof way of getting the info changed also.

Call Blizzard, and act like nothing ever happened...

Call up, talk to billing about changing the email on your account.
Even if your not the registered name on the account, say you are, how are they gonna know?

So heres a example convo

My Real (fake) Name :Billy Owned
My Account Registered name :Bob Leet

Blizzard Rep: Hello, thank you for calling blizzard billing support, my name is john, may i please have your phone number, area code first.

Billy Owned: 555-555-5555 (of course give them your real number)

Blizzard Rep: Name please?

Billy Owned: Bob Leet

Blizzard Rep: Thank you bob, what can I help you with today?

Billy Owned: Can I get the email changed and the password reset on my account please?

Blizzard Rep: Yes you may, may I have you account username.

Billy Owned: IPWNBLIZZARD

Blizzard Rep: Ok, sir, I'm gonna have to have you answer a something for me please.

Billy Owned: Yes?

Blizzard Rep: INSERT SECRET QUESTION HERE!!!

I've done this MANY times without them asking me why I was changing it, so, just say nothing about the account being hacked or anything, but if they do ask, just say you can't access that email anymore.

I don't think so, since chineese companies that buy accounts are itself illegal.

But on the topic:
I plan of doing the trick by telephone tomorrow, but will the person who bought the account from me, recieve and email or such that I reimbursed my account? Because I sold it to a REAL person that knows where I live.. :P

Ok, so I did this. Turns out the person whom I sold the account to, sold it further. And now I got an email of him asking the account back since he paid a lot for it.
He told me he found out I reimburst trough CD-KEY (eu realms btw).


So I'm a bit in a struggle;

-of course I can lie, but that won't work since he got it from some source that i used cd-key ;;
- I can tell him to piss off since it's blizzards account so selling is illigal, but he knows where I live so that ain't ok either ;;
- I can give him it back, something I don't wanna do..

Anyone got some nifty advice?
