    [Protection] The Backspace Scam!

    [Protection] The Backspace Scam!
I haven't seen this around for a while, but it is still possible, and no doubt it will come back with a passion.

    How it Works.

You have agreed that X will pay Y for your Z, X and you go into trade.

X puts his gold into the trade, you put your Z item in trade, and just before you press the trade button, X will press backspace and knock a substantial amount of gold off the trade.

A lot of social engineering is needed for this, and people get better at it very quickly so watch out!

    How to Avoid this!

Always make sure the other person has press trade before you, as if he changes the gold amount then, the trade will be undone and he will be spotted!

If you see some-one do this, DO NOT BE FOOLED again, they will use excuses like "OMG lag -_-" and "sry pressed wrong button".

If you see some-one attempt this, offer to send it C.O.D. in the mail, if they refuse they are obviously a scammer, if they accept send it! Do not go back into trade with them, if they are not scamming you it is no problem to them!

My top rule for avoiding scams like this one, is don't trust any-one!

    Thanks

I hope this helps some people avoid losing out!

100% does not work anymore. If either person changes anything in the trade window after one person presses accept, said person must accept the trade AGAIN, as the window is reverted to neutral trade state.

    Example:

    1. Player1 places item in trade.
    2. Player2 places gold in trade.
    3. Player1 presses ok.
    4. Player2 attempts to change the amount of gold in the window, and thus Player1 must confirm the trade again.

It has always been like that.
The trick is for player2 to remove the gold just before player1 accepts.
FOR A MOMENT, NOTHING HAPPENED. THEN, AFTER A SECOND OR SO, NOTHING CONTINUED TO HAPPEN.

You guys are seriously flaming this and saying it requires luck? This is one of the easiest and most profitable scams in the game, all you have to do is put in your gold, wait like .5 seconds, then delete and spam accept, works most of the time.
