This is a very simple in-game scam that can be successfully accomplished on virtually any decently geared level 80 character, whether or not it is your account, etc. You will have to time it right depending on how many friends your victim[s] had/have.
What you do is take your character to Dalaran, to your faction's Emblem of Valor quartermaster. Then you write in trade, "WTS any Emblem of Valor Bracers, special deal XXXg (undercut your server average by a few hundred gold)". If your server average is between 900g-1500g, offer the item for 500g-800g. You can certainly ask for more, especially during busy times. If your price is attractive, someone will probably answer fairly quickly.
When they send a tell, ask them to meet you at the vendor in Dalaran. By the time they are there, they will have told you which bracers they want. At this point, hesitate at the vendor. Make them stand there wondering why you aren't opening a trade. They might open a trade with you instead, or whisper asking what the hold up is.
What you do at this point is tell them that you "don't want to be stuck" with their choice of bracers in the event that they are not good for the money. Don't be rude, just ask simply, "are you good for the money?" Then tell the guy "lol I just don't want to be stuck with bracers I don't need and have a buyer for a different set, or something equally lame but pointed." With luck, the poor bastard will open trade with you and put the money in the window. He might even complete his half of the trade! If he does this, gogogo trade trade trade. If he doesn't voluntarily hit trade, do it yourself and hope that he gets the picture and completes it.
He might get uncomfortable and refuse to trade you the gold, but you can often convince them to, especially if they are a nooby player and don't remember the new refund system.
Anyhow, this is a rather rotten thing to do, as you will find yourself scamming people with bad gear and no guilds, etc. It also can build you a nasty rep (if you care about that), but if you time it right and use the method sparingly, you can get quite a bit of gold.
If this has been posted before, my apologies. It didn't come up in my search. Just thought it was kinda funny and might net a few people some easy (albeit dirty) g.
If you don't like confrontations, log off as soon as you scam someone, take note of their name of course, then log on later to see if they are in a city. If the coast is clear, start the whole thing again.6):
Hope someone gets something out of this. It's really useful for those pesky 80 accounts that you just shilled the crap off of, but they don't get recalled. You can keep leeching gold from a penniless toon this way.
That poor tauren warrior is probably still standing at the vendor...![]()

Advanced scammers can queue customers before logging off with their consummate gold.
O.o I saw this happen on my mains server, YOU were the wierd bastard posting that? rofl. anyway, +rep.
