    The Gem C.O.D Scam

    The Gem C.O.D Scam
    Heya

Ok, this is the gem scam.

I will use red gems as an example.

Find out which one of these that sells for most, and the one that sell cheapest:

    Bold Scarlet Ruby
    Bright Scarlet Ruby
    Delicate Scarlet Ruby
    Flashing Scarlet Ruby
    Fractured Scarlet Ruby
    Precise Scarlet Ruby
    Runed Scarlet Ruby
    Subtle Scarlet Ruby

Now, Lets say for example that Runed Scarlet Ruby sells for most, and Fractured Scarlet Ruby sells chepest of them.

Now you buy some Fractured Scarlet Rubys and say in trade "WTS Runed Scarlet Ruby" Yes, Runed, not Fractured.

When you get a whisper, make up some excuse that you will have to C.O.D it.

Now, put up the cheapest one in the mail window (in this case Fractured)
The mail subject will now say something like "Fractured Scarlet Ruby". Change this to "Runed Scarlet Ruby"

Then mail it for the price you agreed on.

The thing here is that all the gems i mentioned share the same item logo, and your victim will probably not pay attention to that, he just looks on the mail subject.

This work with all gems that share the same logo.

    Have fun :-)

This IS bannable. Because your changing the subject name. It's called item fraud. 3 day ban, first time.

Ouch. Don't use subject header then, Post something like, "Here you go" in subject, then add the item. That way you didn't change anything, you just listed it first?

Very nice. I've used a similar method to this, but used frozen orbs in simple C.O.D scam, 50g per Orb, sell "20" of them, easy 1k per buyer. Launder the gold, store it on a seperate account for awhile, bingo.

this would be my number1 scam if it wasn't so easily bannable. Good idea though, can always use variations like mentioned to avoid the banned part.
    Thanks.

Defintly banable, have had 2 accounts banned over it, luckily they were accounts made for this exact scam, lost track of the amount of gold i ended up getting from it but definatly worth the 30 bucks for the accounts.

Look at all you sheep, running after the guy who looks like he knows what he's talking about.

1- This is NOT bannable, blizzard once quoted it as use of the Game Mechanics. This was also the same for the backspace scam.

2- EVERYTHING is bannable, in 2.0.4 (I think) blizzard changed the EULA that you agreed to, it says that your account is property of Blizzard, and therefore subject to change at any time, so watch out next time you walk to the bank?
