Keeping an account with only the Account Name and Password ($ required)

So you have a phisher, and only got the account name and password from them? Or maybe you just happened to scam someone out of the account and password.
The account is DECKED with level 80 characters and full tier 7.5 and full deadly set. Here's how to keep it, even if the guy recalls his password.

I. Login to the account management page. Take a look at the First, Last name, and the Address.



II. Open a new tab or window. Now type this in your address bar. "http://www.whitepages.com/"

III. Go to "Advanced Search," and type the required info in, like this.



IV. 85-90% of the time, you will get 1 result, and usually that will be the person who made the WoW account, if he is 18 or older.

V. Make a trial with the same first and last name, including the address.
a. Go to the main accounts paid character transfer
b. Check "transfer to different account," and type your trial accounts name.
c. If it WORKS, it should say, "You cannot transfer to trial accounts."
d. If it did not work, it should say, "The info does not match," or something like that.

Conclusion: I understand this won't work if you have a very common first name like John or something. Personally, i have only done this 3 times in a ROW. I don't wish to do more until i have extra money to buy 3 more cd keys. =) Enjoy.

I like the idea of making a trial account to see if you have the right last name. Alternatively you could call Blizz and attempt to recover the account with the last name you have and see if they take it. Rep from me.

They dont care if the first name matches or not, just the last.

Too bad in order to do a 'Begins With' search, you need the first TWO letters of the last name, which Account Management doesn't give.

Wait, dont you need the secret answer of the source account to transfer characters?

no, to transfer the character to a different account, you need the secret answer of the account your transfering it to, and the last name of the main account.

and about the first two letters, you could just do for example, Aa, Ab, Ac, etc.

If you scam an 80, to xfer it, I assume You have to buy all 3 sets of keys. You couldn't xfer it to an original or bc, you'd need wotlk to xfer an 80 I assume...so this probably costs 70 bucks or so to pull off, right?

No, you need the SOURCE question answer. Meaning, Account A -> Account B.

You need Account A SQ/A.

Secondly, trial account does not work anymore.

Tried, and wasted a Vanilla, Bc, and WOTLK Cd-Key.
