Classic TCG Scam with Ban Prevention

Well I'm sure most of you reading this know generally how a TCG scam works, if not here's a crash course.


1)You post in trade chat WTS [Swift Spectral Tiger] or some other tcg loot.
2)A half dozen people whisper you asking "how much" you name your price.
3)After enough convincing you have a victim willing to trade you the gold.
4) Take the gold, delete the char, log out, do whatever you feel is right.


That sums up a TCG scam.

Now the name of this thread indicates I have found a way of Ban Protection. I'll start of by saying I CANNOT PROMISE 100% YOU WILL NOT GET BANNED. So don't come back flaming.

This has been tested on my main which is 80, sure makes finding a buyer easier.

Find a victim.

In my process of convincing a potential victim to buy a TCG code off me I find a way to ask them into vent casually. Excuses I've used include "I feel the transaction would go smoother" or things such as "It'll make it easier." Be creative or used a canned response, your choice.


Now that the victim is in vent do your best to keep the conversation in vent. Sure talking in game is fine but to maximize ban prevention keep the convo to vent. If done right when a GM looks back they're going to see a transaction for say 3500g to you, nothing specific said about what for. They do not see any code transferred.

BUT WAIT! The GM can obviously see I was trying to sell the code in trade chat.

This is 100% true. However, by giving out the code via vent Blizzard is unable to take action. What I am reporting is from personal experience with this scam.

From what I've gathered as feedback from victims and reasoning the following has been made clear to me. I have had a victim say straight to me, "u ****er the gm won't give me the gold back because u gave it to me in vent" I've also had responses while impersonating the victims friend such as "the gm wont refund me cuz i used vent"


I believe the use of 3rd party chat software prevents Blizzard from having enough information to be decisive on a ban. Yes, blizzard can ban for ANY reason, but I guess they don't always side with the "victim."

Draw your own conclusions here but it's clear to me. Using vent in a TCG scam transaction greatly increases your success rate.

I have done the scam in this matter over 20 times. I have profited about 120k gold. The ONLY punishment I EVER received from this method was once for a 3 hour suspension. "For the use of confusion to receive goods or gold"...despite the suspension I kept every copper.



Tips:
I dont have a vent server what now?
--I suggest asking the victim if they have one, rather simple, leave after you have the gold.

Ban the player from vent after providing them a false code.

Need a stall tactic? Have a few 0's in your fake code and go back and forth oh I think that one's a 0, no wait that one's a O.

yes I use a mic, however I have used Vent Chat.

WRONG.


Blizzard ALLOWS TCG CODES in exchange for in-game gold. This has been posted on the forums, a simple google search should reveal the answer.
