I got Keylogged, my story + tips

Posting this here in case my lost can be your gain, i'm not someone that usually gets scammed easily but that time i was distracted and thought nothing could happen to me.

First off let's say that i didn't get scammed really, more keylogged than anything else. I was browsing the wow forums as usual, at work, and i just found a topic talking about how the alliance invaded Halaa and what a battle it was, from what user told in this thread, everything seemed to look legit and i had no reason to believe that all that stuff was false.

The person that created the post detailled everything that happened in the battle, all fights, all the people involved.

At the end of his post, that person posted several links to jpeg screenshots, the 2 first of them being legit, the other one being a Keylogger, and the worse thing is that the company antivirus didn't even found it.

After several hours i got back on the same thread with people saying it was a keylogger alert, but i was too late, when i got home later that day i found my character completly nude with nothing and all my other characters deleted.

Blizzard couldn't restored anything from my character except 500g and 3 epics, leaving him completly nude.

That person left with more than 5000g worth of mats and gold, which is not so bad for 2 mins of work.

So here it is, hoping this will help someone to scam other people.

Most of us are already aware of keyloggers. Tip is to never download anything off blizz forums.

Thats a really damn old thread...Like close to a year ago itwas new....But yea...You were probally one of the first few to view it, because I remember looking at the time-stamps...The first alert of a keylogger was 15 minutes after

blizz couldnt replace anything at all? lol u prob deleted ur WTF folder once too many times everytime i get a new good wep i print screen the char selection screen just in case

I got keylogged by a close friend who got keylogged over steam similarly to how you got keylogged (story about what how he did something "epic" in wow and some screens and stuff") Low and behold next day my account pass was changed, although my characters seem fairly untouched I still haven't been able to get my account back.

It is a very horrible feeling to know someone else has your account which you have spent alot of time, money and effort on, and to get it back (or not >:[ ) with nothing but a few measily items is very discouraging to continue playing. SOrry to hear about your account. My account was taken completely.
