What race is best for arena?

It was Undead for horde. Now it's Blood elf or Tauren (depending on class).

For Alliance Human is by far the best if you have access to PvE trinkets.

Human is best from Alliance, because of the extra trinket slot. You can use a PvE trinket and a Battlemaster trinket for example.

From the Horde side, Blood elfs are good for the interupt (Arcane Torrent) especially as a melee class.

back to the meat of the post, best PvP class, strategy for battleground in WoW.

first are you playing retail or Private server?

by the time i can compile a decent list there might be a small patch that'll nerf something i or anyone else will post here.

My only personal experience with Alliance is a Nelf hunter, 1st toon i ever rolled.

Personally I world PVP in STV, Hillsbrad, Arathi and sometimes Wetlands (mostly pwning there)

for a melee class Rogue-Undead WotF got nerfed where being able to pop to prevent getting CC'd made you have to be on your toes.
BE arcane torrent is useful for any class to get energy back, but the right spec will get u faster energy regen and you can even get an extra 10 or more with spec and glyph

for caster/range mage for burst DPS (world PVP), Lock or Hunter for CC (2v2 or more)

Gnomes , they're a hell to target for clickers, and the escape racial aint bad to.

I'd say blood elf or gnome, extra silence is beautiful for arenas, and just the visuals of a gnome are funny enough to make your opponent surely laugh at you for rolling one so hard you will definitely win.
