First of all, I want to point out that this is not a real “do this and you will do awesome damage” kind of guide. This is just a few of my thoughts on the arms warrior that I felt that I should share with this lovely community
Due to the many recent nerfs to the fury tree, the interest in the arms tree is higher then ever before. But there are many questions regarding how to raid as arms, so I was hoping to cover most of it in this guide.
First, the question most people ask is whether arms really is on par with fury.
And the answer is yes, a properly geared arms warrior should be able to be on par, and even outperform a similarly geared fury warrior.
With this out of the way, let’s break this down.
GEAR
As an arms warrior your primary concern should be reaching your caps.
In other words Get 296 hit rating and 26 expertise (unless you chose to specc for weapon master, in which case You’ll need only 1
After that I recommend that you start stacking armor Penetration, most of your yellow attacks will not benefit from an increase in attack power.
Also, in terms of weapons, my recommendation is to go for a Mace, since the 15% armor penetration is just godly, with the second choice being an axe.
TALENTS
I run with a 54/17/0 specc (Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft),
skipping Weapon mastery due to massive amount of expertise on the Jawbone.
But for most of you guys I recommend switching out 2/2 trauma for 2/2 weapon mastery, since you’ll hopefully be raiding with a feral druid, who should be able to keep mangle up.
You can also exchange 5/5 Unbridled Wrath for 5/5 Commanding presence if you feel like you can spare the rage.
GLYPHS
I recommend using the following 3 glyphs
Glyph of Mortal strike (Glyph of Mortal Strike - Item - World of Warcraft)
Glyph of Rending (Glyph of Rending - Item - World of Warcraft)
Glyph of Execution (Glyph of Execution - Item - World of Warcraft)
But some of you might prefer exchanging one of them for
Glyph of Bladestorm (Glyph of Bladestorm - Item - World of Warcraft)
For a nice boost to your AoE damage, as it is very neat in a variety of encounters.
ROTATION
As an arms warrior there is no real rotation, as the better part of your attacks are based on proccs.
But the basic idea is to do something like this
Mortal strike > Overpower > Execute and when those all are on cooldown, and you have over 70% rage using slam (I highly recomend that you get a swing timer, so that you can time your slams just after you finish a melee swing), While keeping rend up at all times,
Also, remember to keep sunders up unless you raid with anyone that puts up a major armor reduction effect.
Furthermore, remember to not use Execute just before your Mortal strike’s cooldown has run out, as an unlucky miss there can leave you rage starving and unable to do something but auto attack.
This is all for now, I will probably add more to this guide once I come up with what is needed.
If you have any questions or criticism, please tell me so I can correct that which needs corrections ^^
