Re: are private servers a bannable offense?

Well, in a general concept it is not. But in more specific terms:

It is advisible that you have a copy of your World of Warcraft game and do not run private servers in the same WoW Folder as you play on live. Also, Blizzard has been cutting down on pay to play servers and has even threatened for legal action against some. (You can find more of this information online on google.)

    I hope this helps.

Also, emulator servers and private servers are the same thing. They both run on an emulator and are called private because either:
    1. It is not a public emulator server.
    2. (Mostly used defintion) They label emulator servers as private so they can show the difference between normal servers and private servers. Most private servers are public, and have some noticable bugs in most of the emulators compared as to Blizzard's servers.

Re: are private servers a bannable offense?

yes, they are. In a way, drinking coke while playing wow could be bannable. Blizz covers their ass in the TOS by saying anything "against the essence" of WoW is bannable. But, seeing as how a private server is illegal i would think its bannable. and yes, they are illegal. You are taking money from them by running your own server where they dont get money from it, and other people can play for free/give YOU money to play with THEIR property (yes,WoW and all accounts are blizzards property, not yours. this is also stated in the TOS)

Re: are private servers a bannable offense?

    Private server detected
    Got banned for 3 days
its illegal to own a private server, its Copyrighted,
that would be copyright infringement to own one

reason being is there are 2 reasons

    ۩ ۩ ۩۩ ۩ ۩۩ ۩ ۩۩ ۩ ۩۩ ۩ ۩۩ ۩ ۩۩ ۩ ۩۩ ۩ ۩۩ ۩ ۩
    1. Its copyrighted, ur making a copy of world of warcraft and using some1 elses hack, copyright infringement for short.
    2. Your using the hack to become a GM, do you really think this isn't bannable?
    ۩ ۩ ۩۩ ۩ ۩۩ ۩ ۩۩ ۩ ۩۩ ۩ ۩۩ ۩ ۩۩ ۩ ۩۩ ۩ ۩۩ ۩ ۩

    Anyway, This IS illegal,
    no doubt about it...

Face it man, you get caught once, 3 day ban, you get caught twice, IP ban or Perma ban...

No, i wasnt the one who got banned...

Private servers are against Blizzards rules, but, its nearly impossible for Blizzard to find you running one, even if you advertise it, the risk is next to nothing.

The only way that i think would be posible for getting caught if your tryed running both private server and real wow at the same thime -.- and theres no point to that lol because they sweep your computer for any 3d-party programs and idk just trust me you wont get caught

Re: are private servers a bannable offense?

Wow, I just read alot of uneducated information in this thread...

It is directly stated in the ToS that emulated servers are ILLEGAL.

However, there is little to no chance of one being detected.
