    Got scammed :(

I found an account i was going to buy of ebay for 300$. The seller had great feedback so i wasnt worried too much. so i went for it, the seller wasnt accepting pay pal but was accepting western union. I dont have a credit card so i didnt have a problem with it. I had been emailing he or she for a bit to get all the information and what not, such as the address and name.
i sent the money and never reiceved an email back from him or her getting the money so i emailed the seller to see if he or she had gotten the money so i would get the account information. The seller told me they were busy and work was hectic so i knew the replys would take a little longer. after waiting 2 days i decided to email again, but when i did it said there was an error and there was no such user, meaning he or she deleted the email address(im assuming) so i pretty much know i have been scammed.

Is there anything i can do to get my money back at all?

If the seller didn't deliver the item then they can probably be sued/forced to return the money or delvier the goods. Contact Ebay if you want your money back.

    Re: Got scammed :(

Okay thank you, but will they still give me the money back even though i paid "behind ebay's back" meaning the seller took the item down and then sent the money, so like ebay didnt even know the item sold really because i never pressed buy now or bid, i just messaged him or her saying i'd like to buy it.

Hmm, I don't know about that. You'd have to contact Ebay.

    Re: Got scammed :(

Contact local authorites with any information you have about the perp, this is infact illegal theft, especially if the person spent the money (which is very likely) because the contract was not completed.

    Re: Got scammed :(

Since the purchase didn't go through ebay you probably won't get your money back. You should contact your local authorities and I believe the FBI has a website you can submit electronic fraud information. Wester Union is definitely my least favorite way to send money for purchase of anything. Pay pal or using a credit card(not debit). If a seller will not use those methods, your best option is to use a money order and send it through US postal service with a letter stating exactly what you are buying. If the seller doesnt fulfill what the letter states. This should allow you to persue mail fraud charges. I believe one offense can cost you $10,000 and up to 5 years in prison. I guess this info could be a good deterant from fraud if the seller knew what you might/could do
