take quests to slay mobs and go grind....

Using Joana's / Brian Kopp's guide is definitely the fastest way of solo leveling. But IMO questing is better for classes that are worse in grinding mobs. Also classes with speed buffs got big advantage in questing in 1-40 bracket (hunters, shammies).

Joana's guide is the fastest way to solo level, but I don't think it's the 'best', it depends on how much time you'll devote to what, the class you play, etc. A Frost Mage for example, can grind easily, any AoE class can grind well...it's slower..sometimes more profitable, in the end it's all based on what you want to do.

Yeh, if you run all instances once to do dungeon groups, you'll get nice XP bonus which will allow you to skip hard quests / boring parts of Joana's guide.
