Just got banned for botting.
Heya!
As the title says, I've been banned (because of ReBot, most likely). I'm not ashamed to confess, I'm a total noob at botting. First time doing it, only used it a couple of hours, and happened about a month or two before the ban wave got even announced. Probably reported for botting since I tend to spam trade chat with the same macro over and over again, and Blizz decided to see if that was true (Maybe? I don't really know how Warden works).
So, my questions are:
1 - If I try to appeal the ban, will they believe me if I say my account was compromised? I was thinking something along the lines of "Someone compromised the security of my wi-fi network and sniffed my login info". A bit more complex than that (it would also explain MAC address), but let's not go into detail unless really needed. I've got an Authenticator, but it's set to only ask me for a key once a month, so I don't know if it helps making it feasible or completely debunks it.
2 - Has anyone ever gotten away with a "yeah, I cheated, but since I've been a faithful user since the beginning and blah blah blah..." confession? Not even looking for an unban, I would be happy enough if I got it reduced to three months, just in time for Legion (wishful thinking here; please don't think I'm stupid enought to really believe this could happen).
3 - What will happen to all my auctions and mail? Any chance of asking a GM to freeze them or resend them to my mail? I've seen 90-day mails sent by Blizz whenever an object is restored; maybe a 180-day mail is not too far-fetched? (again, wishful thinking)
Thanks in advance for your help

If you got banned for botting (guessing it's a perm) you're most likely never going to get to play on that account again. Your best shot would be if you were using a VPN while botting, that gives the story of your account being compromised a little more credibility, but if I were you I wouldn't get my hopes up!

Oh, no permaban here. Thanks to Blizzard's latest policy, they tend to apply 6-month bans instead of permabans. My account has been suspended until 12/2016. My story focuses on the fact that someone may have bypassed my domestic network's security, and again when I enabled a whitelist MAC filter spoofing their own address. Same MAC, same IP... Albeit circumstantial, given my clean record as a client, there could be some reasons to unban the account... unless someone knows more about Warden and can explain why Blizz would be 100% sure I'm lying.

When it comes to botting, they run algorithms to check if you use a certain bot or not. So if they got you with this, they usually are 100% sure that your account botted. Best chance is that "someone used your account", but usually that doesn't work either.

Contact an Unbanning Expert if you really value the account and see what he could do, I've seen a friend get a 3month reduction from the BRF Ban Wave by confessing but that was just his case, it also really depends on which GM you stumble upon, some won't give a ****, some will.
Good luck bro

Yeah, just as I thought. I'll try it because, as far as I know, there are no consequences for trying, so... And a straight-up confession is out of the question.
Thanks, lilsniff

Nah, while it's a good account, it'll get unbanned eventually. Meanwhile, I guess I'll play with the free battlechest provided with the movie, and will probably upgrade to Legion if I can't get the main account upgraded in time.

Same here.
Actually got two bans. 6 + 12 months.Ending in 2017/12/08
Going to try appealing it, but we will see. 6 months would be fine but 18 months in total is a bit harsh, as the effect on economy has been pretty minimal.
Been using Rebot for archeology only and some fishing bot (cant remember name), so most likely two bans from two programs.
Will up results if i ever get reply from blizzard,

I too received an email stating that my suspension was due 12/2017, but got another one about half an hour later changing it to 12/2016. Clerical error? Maybe they're not so sure?

I remember Fisher did some pretty good stuff back in the day, don't know how good they are now but it's worth a if it's a really valuable account, of course noone guarantees you will get unbanned so it's your call to take a chance with the "expert" or not =/

Tried to appeal two bans With those unbanning expert letters. Feels like it's just a copy paste (does contain good info) but wouldnt say it's Worth the charge... and i didnt get unban. Sent first one letter, then they said that their decision was right and final, i sent letter number 2 and got automated response, same With 3th letter...

Do you know what did he do to deserve a ban? And/or, what did the GM say? Something along the lines of "I really shouldn't do this but..." or something more like "Since this is your first time..."?

Oh, yes, I'm done with botting, period. Not worth the risk, really. I learned my lesson even before the announcement of a new banning wave.

Which kind of info? Technical text to justify a "compromised account" claim?

Sounds like 6 month is the new minimum for this offense, so I don't really think that fessing up will do anything since they're already being "benevolent" with us; but still...
