GM is an idiot, banned a 1 week old account for botting...

Last week I created a few new accounts. I used different email address so I could keep them separate in case I decide to get rid of the new accounts. This morning one of the 4 accounts was banned for botting. So I had to call them and find out. Here's what I found out:

it seems I used 3rd party software (they won't say) for some months. I asked them to check the account's creation date. Oops, my account was created just last week while those alleged botting was months ago.

I was unbanned quickly but I asked for compensation for being falsely accused, they wouldn't do diddly-squat and still won't tell me what program or why they thought I was botting long before I created this account.

Also one of my character's name got flagged for a rename, they can't tell me why there are a few other active players named Susuwatari while mine was flagged as bad name. And they won't tell me why Susuwatari was flagged as bad name. I've searched Google and Bing, all keeps pointing to Japanese name for soot balls that appeared in My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away. I asked them to check into that, they said they'd look and got me off the phone. I bet they won't do squat and those few players would keep playing without a problem. The only way Susuwatari could be bad name is if it was bad in fictional language like Elfish (LotR) or Klingon.

It seems error can happen, and some people who works at Blizzard can be dumb ass idiot who don't know. I don't know how they decide the ban but if they have to manually enter anything, it is possible they may have transposed letters or selected the wrong account and if error can happen, who knows how many other accounts were wrongly suspended or banned or even wrong names flagged because of dumb people inside Blizzard?

They are already hurting their chance of keeping me on. I cancelled subscription as I couldn't find any new fun stuff to play and boxing 5 didn't make much of a difference. I'll check back with Legion is due to release. Of course if any of my account gets suspended or banned falsely while I am not playing, **** them and I'm looking for non Blizzard, non EA games to play.

Compensation for what, exactly? You do realize Blizzard owns your account and everything on it, don't you? They can terminate your account for absolutely no reason if they wanted to and you wouldn't be able to do anything about it.

when we hit lvl 90, and got banned for reason "Using 3rd party software,....in game trading ...etc". i wanna say tons of words with FFF...
However, it's their so called Users Term...
without gold trading, do you think, WoW or some other MMORPGs would fade away faster?

I have been botting in one battle.net account for 4 months straight and stopped playing it last month then went on my old account and bot on it for 3 weeks and half and boom I am banned

I'm not sure if I didn't word my post clearly or if you missed the last paragraph. I quit because WoW isn't fun right now and because I am annoyed they can ban wrong account(s) for any reason even without proof like claiming I botted on my new account before I created the account. If they did look closely, they would have noticed the account that was flagged couldn't have been able to bot. If they were careful with their lazy investigation, they would have found the real bot account and banned that one but they assumed by generic IP address and flagged a new account instead. The generic throwaway account I used for botting is still working because they can't investigate for crap. And if they were going to do IP ban, they missed my main account, 2 older little-used regular accounts, and 4 new accounts. Beside IP is terrible way to search for bots, many home modems uses dynamic IP and it changes at intrevals or when reset plus people could be using proxy or tunneling service which would give different IP address.

It's like police busting your door down and arresting you because you had a dinner knife in your hand that could have been used in a murder but somehow missed your next door neighbor who is the real murderer.

Any compensation I get would have been a bonus.

In Europe we have for normal DSL changing IP addresses but even then you can get busted when you look in with both at the same time or forget to reset.(if you have a fix IP you need a proxy)

What also to consider is most clients send a client-ID which is specific for your PC e.g Teamspeak use something like that too for banning. So best way is use a VM or other PC in which you use your game client in addition to different IP addresses otherwise your main/private AC get busted very easily.

Best practice would be a start script which make sure that you use a different IPA.

Yes. In all there were a total of 3 different Bnet accounts. The main accounts that has some of my regulars, the one I use for botting, and the new account that was only 1 week old when Blizz banned one of the new account. I guess they realized they fouled up when they saw that the entire Bnet acoount was created way after the evidence of alleged botting. I wouldn't be surprised if after a very hard look, they find the one I did use to bot and ban that one but the bot account is still live as of 5 minutes ago.

That is what we, and Blizzard, have been trying to convey to you: You get banned for botting, because you were botting.

WoW is eleven years old, is it that hard to imagine they can catch ban evaders who create new accounts by now?
