Over 100k players (or more I don't know the exact number) were caught in a banwave back in March linked to Honorbuddy and most of them were banned for 6 months which will be ending on Nov. 13th. My hubris caught up with me and I paid the price because I was one of those players caught in the banwave thinking I was untouchable and been botting since early Wrath on my main account.

We all should have been permabanned with the evidence they gathered (I heard rumors they scanned our active executables or memory for months before the wave hit but don't quote me on this.) but blizz was merciful for some reason. Money maybe? To see how players would react after the 6 months? Lesson learned on my end since I officially retired from any kind of botting after this.

About a month after the wave hit I ended up buying a new license in the meantime and been playing on the alt account waiting for my main to get unlocked. It will be easy to catch my main up with all the time we have until Legion.

How much you wanna bet Blizz is gonna throw their software analysis up for Botting activity on all reactivated accounts to quickly send out a mass Perma ban within a week or two of reactivation of these accounts?

The thing is that this bot-detection software is hard to beat. But, there's millions of players so it is resource ineffective to analyze everyone 24/7, so they likely focus only on those people that get reported, or accounts are flagged for previous actions, or something.

It's 100% speculation, but imo, to be safe, I'd lay off the botting for a bit if you are reactivating your account after the 6 month ban.

it's the ban wave of honorbuddy when it got detected

November 13th they start to unban accounts in waves and it might take days/weeks to reactivate them all

    proof from GM ticket

    Greetings and Salutations!

This is Game Master Veiregon. I received your petition asking about your account. I took a look at this and I can confirm that the account will be activated again by the evening of November the 13th.

Please keep in mind that there were a lot of accounts affected by this so we will be activating in waves. There may be some that are activated before yours, or you could be one of the first to be activated. We have no way to control what spot in that queue your account holds as the system is completely automated.

I am glad that I could help you out with this today, and I hope you have a wonderful rest of your week! =

Lol kids, when I was you're age we had this silly thing called glider, you may have read about it in your history books at school. It was an expensive, hard to use, impractical for a someone to use casually. Even had this wonderful feature to support task files which if you were willing to create, test, and debug you could kinda in one click go from 1-70, such a file would sell for 80 dollars, more than the original program and not garunteed to work even. All this trouble and you know what the result was? a holocaust of players, botters, but if you had an affiliation to a friend of a friend whos computer you used one time to check your Auctions on were ruthlessly banned, for....ev....er. oh and there was an actual irl if memory serves correct, upwards of 10 million dollar lawsuit against the creator of the program which was for all of the profits ever made, theft of intellectual property and it was actually the very first time such a lawsuit involving intelectual property was ever tried in courts. Funny how this same company, sorta, not only temporarily bans botters now, but is obviously eating their words and realizing who paid their way. They took a firm stance then, youre either with them, or with the terrorists. Never forget, the banwave that defined the word. and the shell of a company that publicly said that paid services such as faction change or dare i say character boost they have, would never even materialize in their wildest fantasy. Ever since then, they gave up on the indefinite war against botters and ended up selling the same services to you after imprisoning, i mean banning botters that put value in them. A virtual drug war if you will. That will conclude you're history lesson for today, next week we cover the collapse of trading forums, legally....

Thats my expansive, informative way of saying If this is true, an...un-banwave? I have seen it all i hope my glider accounts get restored, boosted to 100, and an appology via ingame mail just so I can unsub and tell them, dont worry, Im over you blizzard, you waited too long. and give that man his money back for the work and dedication that was glider. /rant

Not so fun fact, World of Warcraft has more attributed deaths than....the next part doesnt really matter because people have died intentionally and unintentionally due to the psychologically addictive aspects of the game which is crazy to think about, and if you ever leveled up back then you know many did not make it, men were born and the weak were purged. If you were the chosen one on your server to take on the responsibility of ringing that gong on behalf of a small nation to be the scarab lord, a god among men. To the players who felt that they deserved that title and are still looking for the inactive, ungrateful PoS in real life with 30 virgins and your unborn child to trade for the account, only to find out hes in a insane asylum in a padded room repeating "but I am the account owner, sir. hello?" because that was the last thing he said when calling customer service explaining that he was accepted into the beta and as if being told its all some sick joke wasnt enough, your "creative" funny name you put down when you signed up wasnt as easy to remember as it was to fill in, though your certain it is some variation of two misspelled curse words that , suprise, you get one chance pal to verify your last name on the account. Even though the agent can see that you put down Frank Fukbutttjr and amazingly your 14 year old self remembers the fact that you had to put 3 t's but you said senior not junior and it really doesnt matter anyway. The account has to be locked until an investigation is done as a matter of national security. I mean, I think everyone that played then can admit that they still know the name of their idol who gave you something to strive for when your eyes first saw the bug mount in town, or the fanclub that trailed behind. They created this currency system that had a very real cash value. if it was an accident or not, there became a clear conflict of interest when people who didnt have time to grind because they had to go to real work would rather pay money for gold. it was and still is the firm belief of many that blizzard actually had sold gold and ignored the fact that the bots were not intended for gold farming but just to free the player from having to take on the task of questing. The banwave was interesting and even questionable in the sense that they the method they used to catch the botters was fairly invasive and was a turning point when maybe they violated your privacy in a relentless sting that seemed to target more than the intended people. many innocent players were banned having never botted some say just by having visited the glider site out of curiosity. After everything they did to protect the integrity of the game, they managed to sell out as subs went down and their 12 million sub number they were so proud of was a very crude inflated number compared to the actual number of active subs at end game content.. between the players they banned and the meaning less content that was wrath, they have catered to casual players and, consistently repackaged old content trying to bring BC back, and milk the game for all its worth and then some. I grew up in austin texas where they kept the support facilities at. Employees were legally bound not to disclose the location because apparently they were genuinely concerned for safety. This was during the time the lawsuit was active and the fact that this case even showed up in a court of law that rewrote laws literally on intelectual property which wasnt even a thing before this. Everything you pay for you never own. Your account all of your characters belong to blizzard and they can terminate the account for really any reason at any time. Even though the irony is the only intelectual value the characters had was in the mind of the subscriber. People forget sometimes what happened there.

    The more you know,

Source? I think you're mixing this up with the bans from that recent pandaria treasure dupe.
