Well I am not sure but I have heard that when they detect some1 doing a hack the GMs bun his account by typing .ban <character name> so if I do a hack and delete the character will I get banned?

If you're talking about retail WoW: No, Game Masters first make sure if you're hacking, and they don't use the command .ban <character name>. First you get temp banned until they finish an investigation.
And yes, you can get banned even if you delete the character.
If you're talking about private servers: Yeah, sure, why not.

It depends on which hack you are using. If it's something really decetable (ovious things) they will DC you fast and give you an instant temp ban. (So it happens to the trial accs.) After that, things happen like Dragon said
