[Question] About some laws related with games.

I'm sorry because of this; having to post about those things not directly related to in-game matters.
But i really have some doubts about this and i know there are a lot of people who know a lot, I CALL YOU ALL!

In the United States, you can find the RICO Act, who basically, the little i know, people use to defend themselves when a company takes away something they have paid for.
Do we really have things like that in EU or some country in the EU?

    Thank you, again.

Huh, never heard about it to be honest so I can't tell you much regarding this topic, but...there are some information that could perhaps help that I'm aware of and that I could lay them down for you.

As far as I remeber from my classes from the last semester "Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO)", that you referred us to, is only used to "set criminal penalties for racketeering activity" which as far as I am informed includes (but not limited to) bribery, extortion, illegal drug sales, loan sharking, murder and prostitution, etc. (this is what I read and found, after searching for the uses of RICO act).

Besides, I know no one ever reads the ToS's (esspecialy the Blizzard's long ToS), but according to it you're not actualy the owner of the account you payed for; easily explained you could just compare it to a simple loan - you pay a person (or an organisation in this case) for something to give you for the usage in exchange for the money you gave and if you break any of the points from the act, the person you loaned the "thing" from can break the contract without any prior actions.
(english is not my mother tongue, so I hope I layed the information down to be easily understandable; or at least I tried )

To give you a hand, here's the part of Blizz's ToS regarding the account ownership:
"NOTWITHSTANDING ANYTHING TO THE CONTRARY HEREIN, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT YOU SHALL HAVE NO OWNERSHIP OR OTHER PROPERTY INTEREST IN THE ACCOUNT, AND YOU FURTHER ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT ALL RIGHTS IN AND TO THE ACCOUNT ARE AND SHALL FOREVER BE OWNED BY AND INURE TO THE BENEFIT OF BLIZZARD."

Hope that helps you out a bit. Also, don't forget this is more of a personal opinion rather than a legal advice .
    Cheers!
