Buying TCG Items - Face to Face. Save?

So basically, i want to buy some TCG Mounts.

Firstly, I know there are dupe methods and scam methods.

And there are 2 possibilites which can happen:

    1. I buy a duped mount.
    2. I buy a legit one.

    - I don't want to buy a duped one, so if I buy one accidently, what would be the worst case? Mount removed, Gold removed, ban?

So I want to get a legit one. The "best"- legit method would be a guy who redeems the mount on my server and trade face 2 face with me, but usually this does not happen, or it's very unlikely.

    Situation:

So basically a guy offers me to transfer to my server and wants to trade me a tcg-mount.

Now there are few information regarding to this guy and i would like to know how i just react to that:

    1. This guy is an active TCG seller, that means he is selling tcg items (and not only mounts) since last year and he has buyers.
    2. he is selling over the regular blizzard forum including posting in the "TCG-TRADE-Section"
    3. he said "swift spectral tiger is sold few mins ago, but i can get a new one in 1-2 days".
    4. his char is pretty rich, means he has bought full t3, invincible runs for 250k and he has all tcg mounts
    5. he is not a lvl 1 and he wants to be contacted on his real-id.

this whole situation looks "non-legit" for me, but maybe im just to pessimistic. i know there are many server like kazzak where the auctionhouse is full with TCG mounts...

so just tell me your opinion

I believe that you are kind of right. He might have this really rich character just to impress the buyer. Since he is selling in large quantities he definetly wouldnt want anyone to mistrust him. Have you seen any other successful buys? what are they saying? I understand you are buying something for alot of money since he is willing to transfer. Its wierd because him taking the risk to transfer to your server is a little odd. What if you said no? or just ran away? its as if he has nothing to lose. Thats my opinion, do some more research and talk to him. You'r most likely a smart fellow. Don't be impulsive on the buy. Make your decision wisely. Try to compare his price to other websites prices. If its too low, then it is most likely scam :P

Prefer skype and do it voice to voice according to me thats always a very good way! You can bond a little better and you understand who is really behind the screen! :

    Merry Christmas

You can write a GM Ticket and ask the GM about the specific mount if you think its duped.
But do it b4 you buy it, otherwise it might get removed.

I presume this is a way for gold buyers to get gold in a more legitimate method. However if you want to buy mounts, search eBay and sell the gold to a legit source.

    GM Ticket:
"Hello, I want to buy the <item> from <player><server> and before I buy it, I want to check if its duped.
Could you do that for me? Thanks in advance!"

Source: Happened to a friend, he lost the mount.

Unless something has changed, TCG mounts that are legit will have made by tags on them

1st it's good that you asked here before you buy!

I once saw Blazing Hippogryph - Item - World of Warcraft on AH for 60k through Undermine Journal. I went fast online, the character selling it was a lvl1 with a weird name that I couldn't even type. I instantly bought to resell it for profit. I am pretty sure the item was duped -low price, lvl1 char with chinese name who posted it and went offline etc- but I had more than enough gold to take the risk.

Now, I had that item for 2 months (fail) because noone wanted to match the price I asked for it. Nothing happened, it was not removed, and when I actually sold it I had no complaints from the buyer at all. The only difference I see here is that I bought it from AH, which means that I had an "excuse" for having a duped item in my bags, but as far as I know, if the seller is legit and doesnt scam you, after you learn the mount for yourself you should be fine.
