Question, possible exploit. Trinket Black Blood of Y'shaarj proc.

So, a friend of mine was doing a H Scenario today, and when he left he had the 10 stack buff from the proc of the trinket still! No idea how, but we had a dps race, I asked how then he told me to look at his buffs. Not sure how to post a picture never had, believe I have to do it through Imgur.

imgur: the simple image sharer picture of buff. and dps meter to the side... He also said it worked when he phased, it also worked in Proving grounds, which could be MAJORLY GAMEBREAKING.

Does the trinket have a "double effect"? One spell says something like "Gaining X intellect per second" and the other one is the stack? If so then he probably left the scenario around the same time that one of these spells changed, I've seen similar things happen.
