Account closed for gold-selling - any way to get it unbanned?

I don't bot but just sell gold that I make on the auction house. I had been selling gold for 7 months now and I woke up today to an account closure notification from WowAdmin.

I don't believe I did anything different in my gold selling ways the day before the ban.

What would be a proper/successful way to appeal this ban and get my account re-opened? Or is there one? Any insight or help would be appreciated

Here is the email that I received :

World of Warcraft -- Account Closure Notification -- Exploitative Activity Found

    ***Notice of Account Closure***

    Account Name: xxxxxxxxx

Reason for Closure: Terms of Use Violation -- Exploitative Activity: Abuse of the Economy

This account was closed because one or more characters were identified exchanging, or contributing to the exchange of, in-game property (items or gold) for "real-world" currency. This exchange process negatively impacts the World of Warcraft game environment by detracting from the value of the in-game economy.

Even if this is the result of account sharing, the account owner can still be held responsible for the penalty because of the impact it had on the game environment.

We've found the above behavior is many times directly related to groups responsible for compromising World of Warcraft accounts; we take these issues very seriously. To better understand our position against exploitative activity and the risks involved, please review this article: Impact of Buying Gold - Shop - World of Warcraft

The exploitative activity that took place on this account violates the World of Warcraft Terms of Use. We ask you take a moment to review these terms at Blizzard Entertainment:Blizzard Legal Documentation. Note that additional Terms of Use violations may result in more severe actions against this account, up to and including permanent closure.

If you believe your account was compromised, please go to the following website https://us.battle.net/account/suppor...-recovery.html. Our support staff will assist you as soon as possible. If you are unable to access your account due to the password being changed, please visit our Login Support site here: https://us.battle.net/account/suppor...ord-reset.html

Have you already had penalties on your account ?

Now Blizzard are very very strict about gold selling, I hope you didn't sell your gold att some chinese companies, because Blizzard hate this !!!

If you fear to write your own appeal, you can ask att a professional - Sephirofl
    http://www.ownedcore.com/forums/mmo-...xperience.html

If you don't have penalties, maybe Blizzard will give you a second chance, with only 72 hours of suspension, but write a good appeal ^^

Esp3rae is right, Blizzard is very strict on Gold Selling.

While with using 'third party software' or Bots, you usually get 3 chances. First 48h ban, then 72h ban following by a permanent ban.
But selling gold usually ends in a 72h ban or even permanent. Sending a mail with clarification will make the difference.

Also have you logged into wow on another IP-adress recently?

If so, tell them you've been hacked. They can see if more than 1 IP-Adress is logging into your account.
I used to do this and got my accounts back every time.

Was it a chinese company? I know that may seem strange, but I have sold a healthy chunk of gold over the years from crafting / raid leading. When I got into selling more of it with a friend he went to a Chinese company to move our gold and got a second account for it. That account was suspended once and subsequently banned, but it was a cheap account and it moved a large amount of gold.

I get the feeling that some of these companies are reporting people after buying from them to try to reduce the supply of gold and drive up prices. It just strikes me as strange that you are so much more likely to get banned after trading them than after doing private trades. Sure, blizzard could be watching them, but if that was the case wouldn't blizzard ban them also? If blizzard was banning them and removing the gold, those sites would cease to operate. Therefore, I can only assume that they are creating the reports. I hope I'm wrong, and I'd love to see some evidence.

Regardless, put in an appeal and you might be able to get it reversed.

    Thanks for the replies.

I didn't sell gold to any Chinese, just private parties, people who played wow.

I've been suspended for 72 hours for bug exploiting

I haven't logged on with a different IP address, only the same one as always

It says in their mail that even if this was from sharing my account, that I would probably still be held liable. That was one option I was considering using in my appeal - that my brother used my account, but now I don't think that will work

The only thing you can do is wait the 72 hours out.

These things might have caused the issue.

-Don't Advertise on your main account.
-Don't talk about 'Gold' selling for 'Real Money' in whisper/guild etc. Blizzard can see this. Use Skype instead.
-Don't trade your gold on your main Character. Use another account, but if you must really use your main, create a lvl 1, trade the gold, and delete afterwards.
-Trade in chunks of 20k, don't trade 100k/200k,
-Don't send huge chunks of Gold in mails.

On the other hand, getting banned is 90% because you've been either reported, or you've been careless/made a mistake.
    10% is unlucky I suppose ^^

That's what I do and It works.

I would add, never never sell with his main account or an account that you want to keep, i lost mine after 2 years of gold selling, just buy a Battlechests to trade the gold.

If you sell a lot of gold, make sure you can recover your guild bank with a frozen account, because when you have all your account ban for gold selling, and you lose many millions of gold, it really is not pretty.
