Realms first 90 and Zygor Guides.

So I've requested permission from my boss to take a couple of days off when the MoP expansion hit in order to achieve either Realms first 90 or Realms first 90 hunter.

Now when I started looking at "guides" made by people who has done this before, I see that they suggest that you've participated in the Beta (which I unfortunatly havent). Time and effort into this is not a problem as my days off are granted and everything is sorted out regarding drinks and food, however when it comes to knowing where to start questing in MoP and such I have no clue. That's when Zygor guides crossed my mind. I've used them before and they're really awesome. (This is coming from a guy who's played WoW for 7 years.) I recently saw that Zygor guides are supposed to be up with the MoP version once the expansion hits.

So my question is: Do you guys think I should go about buying the Zygor Guide for leveling since I haven't been able to attend the Beta?

Zygor guides are excellent and one of the better guides i know and use them for leveling my alts.
However the problem with this is that the quest chains are entered by humans (prone to input errors), and although the quest id's are known it is not always know what quest chain it belongs to and how its started. Also the first release will be based on the MoP Beta data, which is still evolving.

This will result in the first couple months of the zygor guide (or any other guide) to be usefull as a guideline but it will screw up at some points and try to get you to do things that are not possible. So you will be unable to blindly follow them. Zygor guides also has an tendensy to send you to the next questing zone as soon as pass a surten threshold (cq: level), causing you to not complete your current quest chain (which might cause you to miss the follow up quest chain in the next zone) or simply to miss the experience from the parts you already complete there.

    But to answer your question:
Should you buy the guides: in the end its up to you, if it isn't too expensive it could be usefull as a guide and help you out. Some quests are "tricky" if you dont know where to complete them, although MoP has been alot easier to quest in then before.

Some tips if you're going to use it:
Always quickly double check the quests/area you have to go to and verify Zygor is sending you into the correct direction.
If zygor guides send you to the next zone because you dinged or whatever, make sure to hand in any remaining completed quests you have in that zone.

However: try to get Beta access, this REALLY will help

Awesome reply. I'm aware of the problems with Zygor trying to make you do things which isnt really possible, however i'm quite good at leveling fast even though i've never been in the zone before. I just need Zygor as a second hand quest helper if you understand what i mean? Like for instance MoP hits and i have no clue where to go to kick off my chains, probs Zygor will help me there.

Yeah i need to get my hands on a beta. :P Do you know if Blizz are still handing out Beta invites this late?

Yeah i can understand that, and i think Zygor will can help point you the way especially when its best to go to the next zones. Quests hubs are actually pretty good handles in MoP, if you're questing in a quest hub and you completed your question then 9/10 times you get 1 or more follow up hub quests which are visible with at the map

I'm pretty sure they're still giving away keys, 2 weeks ago a gave one to a friend of mine i got from some kind of giveaway.

Well, from what I've heard, BETA servers will shut down in 3 days (on 09.06.2012), so there's not much time left to actually get an account and test leveling routes. If you're in a guild that is also interested in this, I suggest you start in a guild group, grinding 85-87, then just run to Kun-Lai Summit (or have some warlock + 1 guy summon you there) and start questing. Also, you should have 25 daily quests ready by the time MoP hits, so you turn them in for some extra xp-boost.

Regarding Zygor, I'm also interested in it and was thinking to get it myself for the exact same purpose. The most important part of Zygor is that (at least in theory), the addon has only the fastest and most efficient routes per zone implemented, and from what I've seen on BETA so far, there are a lot of quests that shouldn't be done, as they involve way too much time and grinding and the xp reward is less or at least as much as any other quick and efficient quest, but unfortunately I don't have the time to level up again and check if those particular time-wasting quests can be avoided without breaking the zone's quest chain.

All in all, I suggest you check out a couple of videos on youtube about the zones and do some questing on LIVE, just to get yourself warmed up (maybe even those 25 dailies). Questing in MoP isn't that hard, given that you're being shown on the minimap an "engineering" wheel for quest items you should click on after receiving the quest, or a white chat-bubble for people who you should talk to for that quest, so if you read it very quick before starting, it's going to be doable in a fast way even if you're there for the very first time.

    Good luck!

i used zygor guide to level 80-85 on day 1 of cata

i was ahead of everybody else in the first zone but what really screwed me over was that it didn't classify hyjal and vash as different guides for the same level... so after i finished hyjal it told me to move on to vash instead of deepholm and i didn't know any better so i gradually fell behind in leveling speed

so be somewhat aware of where you should be leveling before you take on a new guide!

I believe there is no daily quest limit anymore.

The quest log limit is 25 though imdasandman.
So you still can only have 25 daily quests ready to deliver :-)

Never used Zygor but they seem well rated. Personally I thought that the quests at the start of Cata flowed so easily I can't see how paying for a guide would have made it easier to level. Back in the early days there was no in map help and quests didn't flow so easily but now I think it's a doddle. Would save the money.

It's not about making quests easier for you while leveling, but Zygor also has pre-made questing routes that avoids stupid quests that either take too much time or reward you with less xp than a regular one, without affecting the quest-chain of that zone. If you're really aiming for realm first, it might be very useful.
