War Games - minimum player requirements?

What are the minimum number of players you need to start a War Game for a battleground?

Can I challenge a single friend to a WG match? Do I need 3 other friends to initiate a 2v2 WG battle? Is the minimum 3 per side so I need 6 people?

I just want to explore the Battleground maps, and realized this morning that these War Games would be a good way to do so (I know, I'm a bit late, heh). How many others do I need?

Oh, one more question... when I explore raids the raid member does not need to be online (I can get an alt to join my group, then he can drop an go back to his main, because I can still enter a raid with the other member being offline)... When doing these Wargames, do the other members need to be online? Can I join with all of them online, and then all the others log off and go back to their mains, leaving only me and a bunch of offline members in the War Game?

I did... it only lists maximums, not minimums.

No one seems to know this... I'm surprised it is not in the FAQ... seems a normal question.

Looks like you need a minimum of five players, so three on one side two on another.

I did see that thread (posted in it a couple days ago, actually!)... but wasn't sure if that was 5 total or 5 per side. I'll just have to get 4 other guys and try it out...

Really curious, if it is 5 people, if the other 4 can drop once we're in and I can stay in the BG...
