Dr. Doom's Quick Data Mine Methodology

Hey MMOwned,

Dr. Doom hitting you with another interesting guide to feed the readers craves. This time I'm going to talk to you about how I data mine information for my trades/transactions/sales/info gathering, since the internet can be a scary place.

I don't know if this is in the right section, since it's not scam prevention, but more like payback? awareness? Anyway, if there's a problem, message me about it, or just move it to the appropriate area, wouldn't want anyone being angry at me.

This guide is going to be quick, but the way you get the data may not be, it takes time, and you usually have to sift through data to find the right person. Lets start shall we?

I think it's only fair that I use myself as an example, and because I already acknowledge the fact that people can data mine me, find my address, do what ever they want, so I'm using myself as an example. Either way, this isn't illegal what we are doing, nor is there anything fishy about it, because all the data we are gathering is ALL public knowledge, we made it that way ourselves.. sadly so.

Let's begin:

Load up your favorite browser, I personally use Chrome or Firefox 4.0, whichever one you prefer, this isn't a browser war, just pick one plz.

Go to the following link, it's in the picture, dummy.



Now that you're at pipl.com, let's go ahead and click "Username", and it should bring you to something like this. I am using Raiden805 as the username because as some of you may know, I am previously.. Raiden805.



At this point, just go ahead and click "search." Something along the lines of this should come up.



Let the search engine do its thing, and should take merely a couple seconds, and you should get wonderful results with the username, depending on if they have used it on twitter/facebook/myspace/etc, but as you'll see my real name popped up, and a little description I wrote about myself on my twitter, or where ever I posted it.



To be honest, I am surprised I didn't see more information come up about myself, but that's also part of the "data mine" process is, you have to dig around, click links provided, and check their posts, such as mine at the very bottom, you can see that I posted on MMOwned previously.

As you can see, you can even put in someones phone number, full name, username, email, and business. This does everything, and this is basically what most people use to find information on someone they don't like or are worried about and need some information on them. I have used this for good and bad, I have used this to get back at scammers, and simply scare them and post them all their information in chat, and they simply abide with my request or return my item. This search engine isn't always a bad thing, it also does a lot of good.

You're not supposed to post information on people on MMOwned, but I figured since it's my own, and I am knowingly putting it on, it shouldn't be a problem. It's even interesting to look up yourself and find how open you are for people to find you.

Another really good engine is Spokeo, this one doesn't give as much information as Pipl, but it does if you are willing to pay for it. This one does White Page searches, social networks, wealth, where you live, and much more. Very powerful, but at your expense $$$. Spokeo even uses a persons friends to data mine who you're looking for. Pretty nifty if you ask me. Here is a quick screenshot of what it looks like, and a little link like the first picture I posted.



Here's another quick screenshot of what it says when you do the official search, it actually shows you what social network it's searching, very nifty.



And also, to my surprise, Spokeo did an even more extensive search and found me on almost all the social networking/dating websites I have been on, even music, and much more, almost scary. This stuff can be used for so many different examples, catching a cheater, finding info on a scammer, finding your daughters boyfriends records, and much more.

Here is a screenshot of my search of myself, almost horrifying how much information that is available to the public, but again this is the INFORMATION AGE, nothing is secret at this point. Spokeo even updated their search results, and put them in a nice organizer with a separate window and everything, great addition!



That's about all I can show you, you basically have to learn how to find more information on the people. There are MANY useful websites out there to help you on your voyage. I used to data mine before Spokeo and Pipl were available, and let me tell you, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THESE SERVICES.

I am going to summarize a decent list of links to help you out, and help you find what you need to get more information out of somebody.

Google is also one of your best friends with data mining, you can use some of the information you get on Pipl/Spokeo and do a quick Google search and find just as much, and if you can find an image of the person you are looking for, you can use Tineye for a quick reverse image look up, doesn't work as often but you never know!

Hopefully I was able to clarify some of the ways people get information on you and your friends, and threaten you with "I HAVE YOUR IP" "I WILL PURSUE YOU TO THE FURTHEST EXTENT OF THE LAW" BS.

There are some honest private investigators, but they aren't doing much more than what I just taught you to do.
