    ADT modification, ban?

So to make a long story short, I spent a few hours doing static analysis on the current client adt's. I made a simple command line interface tool to modify the water level of an adt, thus making swimming possible where it ought not be ;p

yes, its similar to cryects command line tool, however i made a few work arounds for the mh2o chunk.

so my question is, are adt's part of the client hash scanned upon using the wow network protocol? i have done some analysis on that as well but i cant find sturdy information.

on a positive note i have been swimming around on a trial account now for a couple hours, but people tell me that trial accounts dont have a client hash scan.

If I can get solid feedback from people on this topic i will be more then willing to release the source code here.

    thanks

    ever.

No one can tell you for sure except for Blizzard, who's answer probably wouldn't be reliable anyways because they have a vested interest in lying.

I also wondered for a while if Blizzard (or Warden, for that matter) runs scans for modified model/texture files. It would be easy to implement (CRC/MD5/SHA1 hash check), especially for a big company like Blizzard.

thanks for the replies, I guess there is very little documentation on this "warden" thing ;p

where did that name come from lol?

anyways ive been doing more network analysis and i can virtually see the hash scan from a live account.
im not that great with cryptology and or the wow protocol but it would seem to me that only certain adt's
are scanned.. perhaps the ones related to battleground terrain? just a guess.

it would be really nice if someone here who knows a little more about this anti-cheat system that is in place could post here. Yes I have done some forum searching here and you guys call it "the warden".

id be happy to release this, its in cpp for learning purposes, no binary only clr c# craps

however if its going to cause a ban then i would feel responsible, i understand that i shouldnt, because its a use at your own risk kind of thing but, then this release would be completely pointless.
