4.0.1 Now Available on the Background Downloader On live servers

It seems when users start up their launchers on the live client you will be greeted with a nice message that says -- Data for the next patch is available.

What does this mean everyone? It means we have finally begun the pre-loading of the 4.0.1 patch. Usually spread out over weeks prior to the release of a major content patch users can grab a huge chunk of the already completed items in the patch so not everything is downloaded on patch day.

To get the background downloader started all you should have to do is boot up the Launcher and make sure you have the options enabled to download in the background.

    Enjoy everyone.

There will be no more major patches. The next big thing will be Cataclysm.

I have it enabled on the launcher, but do you need to keep the launcher opened for the downloader to work? Because when I look at my processes I can't see anything in the sense of "Blizzard background downloader".

If you are having trouble downloading it. does these steps

    1. delete the blizzard downloader. Seen

    2 Run "repair tool" seen

3 When you open repair tool you want to only check the first 2 boxes and hit check files only seen

4 Let it run it course and bam you should be on your way of patching. Thanks

For some reason it still won't start the background downloader by itself when I exit WoW, but I guess I can start it manually while not playing, thanks for the little guide nontheless.

Ok try this. Open your launcher hit "Options" then Launcher options or something like that, and uncheck patch after exit wow or something along those lines then. check the box that says " download while playing" should work that way.

It might make it worth people's time to note that the current patch is ONLY for EU, not US or any others at the moment.

Edit: It seems that it is finally ready for US/MX servers.
