Anyway to calm my worries?

About 7 months ago I got my brother in laws account from him and have since been using it, he's only like 14 and has no plans of taking it back, but last night I came across a guildie who wanted to trade accounts, so we're talking about it and I'm really looking into doing it. BUT, I'm trying to figure out ways of securing this trade off, I can add an authenticator, change email, password, etc. but there is no true security right? I know I can get my original account back, but having my brother in law call into blizzard is kind of a pain in the a*s. Are there any real ways of fool proofing this transaction? I don't know the guy IRL obviously, so for all I know he could be waiting a week and then taking it back, or who knows maybe even a year. I wouldn't care if were in the middle of an expansion, but I've already pre-ordered my Cata CE and I'm not looking to add it to this account and then it gets revoked.


Anything I can do guys?

Dude if a random person you don't know irl wants to trade his account for somebody's else,then you must know that there's something fishy...

I don't see how meeting somebody in game, or meeting somebody from these forums is any different? There are a bunch of ads in the WTS/WTT section about wanting to trade off accounts. Or even WTS ads, are those not safe either? People get sick of there current classes, or whatever the case may be. I never said it was safe, I was asking if there are any precautions I could take.

This is a World of Warcraft community.If you haven't been here for too long,you won't know that we usually don't scam each other.As you can see we share ways to exploit the games and help each other,not to scam each other.However,ingame there are a lot of desperate players who usually need gold,and are ready to hack your account in order to get it,without thinking what could that lead to.

there really isnt much you can do besides add an authenticator.
But that still wont stop him from being able to reclaim the account back.
You could tell him that youll add an authenticator just for security purposes and he could do the same
as well as changing the password, and if he ever does try and reclaim the account back, you could do just the same. Ive had guildy friends that I did not know irl lend me their accounts while they took a break and never had any issues. It all depends how much they trust you I guess. And no I never screwed them over, they are guildy friends and I even made them gold for when they came back to play.

Well I guess I'll call it off, I would just bought a shaman (the class I was trading for) but I've had two accoutns temp suspended this month alone while botting very little.

I just handed a guy 5k today in game in trade for his acct. He whispered the game info, I made the modifications and all to change the password and email and clicked Accept in game to trade. It was as quick as you could imagine...and what is 5K? One night botting? Gonna pick up WotLK and a 60 day card tonight resub the account and play it till either he takes it back or until it gets banned for botting. Maybe I'm trusting, but wtf...it was $15 at most if I sold the gold, lol for a ready to play account with BC on it.

eh, i'm not too fond of trading, they can very easily claim it back. 30 bucks for wotlk, 30 bucks for a gamecard = you paying $60 for that account that can possibly get banned or taken back like you said.

lol 5k in one night? What are you botting? Maybe it's because I'm on a massive population of a server, but the only thing that makes me any gold is fish because all the good skinning spots are taken up by bots 24/7.
