    Faction Change Questions

This is for people who did a faction change:

    1. To anyone who was wearing a tabard/PvP gear/tier items that got changed in the transfer:

    Did it update:

    - As soon as you logged in after paying for the service but before clicking on the faction change button? (Ie. Your Night Elf was wearing Horde gear at the character select screen.)

    - As soon as you clicked on the faction change button and entered character customization?

    - As soon as you selected your new race at customization?

    - Only AFTER successfully logging in as your new race? (Ie. on the customization screen, your former N'Elf/now orc was wearing the Knight's Tabard and this fixed after logging in.)

    2. To any Death Knights:

    - Where did you start? New racial capital? Archerus?

    - Did you repeat the Death Knight tutorial?

    - Has anyone tried with a level 60 Death Knight who hasn't finished the tutorial? (Curious if this can "break" a DK character.)

    3. To the REALLY adventurous:

Have any of you tried paying for a faction change and then NOT changing factions? Just enter the recustomization panel, maybe tweak a few visual options and/or gender and hit accept WITHOUT selecting a new race.

I'm curious if some of your mounts/items still autochange (ie. the game assumes you changed factions and swaps out mounts; racial mounts would almost certainly be unaffected since this is based on case-by-case, weighing original race against target race... But it might bug out and give you opposite faction mammoths, dragonhawk, tournament mounts, paladin mount, etc. as well as opposite faction PvP gear.)

I'm also curious if this still resets Wintersaber/Tranquillen rep, if you can do this to reset your faction quest chains without changing factions, if you login at your OLD racial capital (basically, if it treats everything as though you faction transferred from the other side even though you didn't).

    One more fun thought:

Logout at the arena in Nagrand before doing your faction change.

When you're there, you're arena flagged and set hostile to any Alliance AND Horde not in your group. This could conceivably do funny things to your faction depending on the nature of the faction change scripting.

    Possible outcomes I could envision:

    - Remaining neutral/hostile with everyone after a faction change.

    - "Failing" to properly faction change. (Ie. your orc becomes a night elf but remains Horde.)

    - "Failing" to convert mounts and/or items.

    - Or if you do what I suggested and keep the same race by not changing races in a faction change, possibly triggering a "false" conversion of items. (Ie. Your orc stays an orc but your windriders become gryphons because a faction change switch was registered from hostile -> horde.)

    - Assuming you ARE normally blocked from staying the same race/faction, this could conceivably bypass this since you are neither Alliance nor Horde when you logged out. A Horde -> Horde faction change with no race change might be blocked by scripting but this might cause it to register as Hostile/Arena -> Horde, making it possible.

It's entirely likely that the arena flag buff doesn't persist when you're not logged in or that it's cleared in the process of faction change. But if you're going to experiment or you're already planning a faction change, logging out in the Nagrand arena (or any other arena that allows you to be arena flagged in the open world) can't hurt and seems like it offers the potential to do funny things to your faction. At worst, it will break a few things and you can submit a ticket to get them fixed.
