I originally brought this up in another thread I made:
http://www.mmowned.com/forums/wow-ex...-pet-army.html
I wanted to try and gather some more thoughts on it though, and figured broadening it to the WoW General section might give me some more insight on the matter.
I remember back in BC how simple it was to desync yourself in Shattrath. All you needed was an Eye of Kilrogg or an Elixir of Dream Vision. Doing so allowed you to do a couple peculiar things, most notably of which was amass hundreds of non-combat pets. Since the method used was patched (as far as I know) I haven't even heard of desyncing since until just the other night when I managed to do it by pure accident.
I flew in from Icecrown after doing my dailies, landed on the north bank's steps and waited there by the vendor to sell some things. But the vendor never showed up. Minutes went by (I was sidetracked!) until I realized I was desynced from the server. Promptly I tried summoning non-combat pets and sure enough it worked.
Sadly duplicating this has proven to be rather difficult. I've tried dozens and dozens of times to fly in from Icecrown to Dalaran on a similar path I took to no avail. Obviously people do this all the time and it so rarely happens. So I am not sure exactly what factor played into the desyncing. I've also tried using an Eye of Kilrogg and running it into the sewers and out the pipe to Crystalsong Forest but it, too, failed to work even after multiple tries.
Has anyone else heard of possible methods to desync themselves? There are obviously two ways to go about doing it: One would be the BC Shatt way, where you are normal at first then you do something to desync yourself. The other is what happened to me and it seemed I bypassed the sync check altogether. It's also quite obvious that once you are past the initial check it does not do another until you enter another subzone.
If you have any ideas please share! I'd love to reproduce this!
