Pre-80 gear?

im a level 77 undead mage, i have 2k gold, i have normal flyer+cold weather flying.

before i hit 80, is there any gear i should buy? or is it not necessary?

for pvp, buy full frostsavage gear. search for frostsavage on AH

To be honest I don't think its necessary to buy any gear you can get most the gear from quests in northrend, but that's what I think I've never played mage.

Frostsavage is very nice and get's you to a start. Also titansteel spellblade would be nice to get at some point.
