Hi,
I plan to use one of my pally toons as a powerleveling alt for future toons and guildies alike. This would be used in conjunction with RaF "couples", and will mostly instance-grind.
I basically want to run lower-level instances as efficiently as possible, and even at level 70, this toon's doing great... up until Zul'Farrak. It's just a mess!
I used to have the classic prot spec, with Avenger's Shield, and Hammer of the Righteous. However, I noticed that my Consecration ticks were doing around 140ish, while my Ret Aura damage was around 85-90 ish. Thing is, the casters in ZF just ran away when at low HP percents, they healed, then came back, and reran when low again. On top of that, I had to deal with being Hex'd, and when that happenned, runner mobs that happenned to be slightly within range of my RaFers would go and beat them. And since I was using a simple multi-client multibox setup, I only noticed it when the two RaFers were dead. Highly inefficient as it takes me forever to kill the mobs.
Even when killing 3 of them with the burst from Avenger's Shield and Hammer of the Righteous, the others would still go with the same "run-heal-come back-run-heal-come back" schtick.
After analyzing all of this, I figured I could improve this by:
- Optimizing Consecration ticks damage
- Optimizing Ret Aura damage
- Using the Sporegarr shield for extra block damage
- Adding a spike to that shield
So I thought I'd be creative and respecced in a way that I'd keep Blessing of Sactuary, while improving damage via the Ret tree. Big mistake there, as not only did I lose two burst damage sources (AS & HotR), but it actually made Consecration tick for less, and the boost from Ret Aura isn't all that good. So yeah, fail spec indeed.
I know that Consecration now scales using both AP and SP. But thus far, using AP as a substitute for SP did not yeild great results. I figured I might as well bring this toon to 80.
In the meantime, would there be any way to optimize Consecration ticks better than the 140 damage I used to have? And also, any tips with the "run-heal-come back-run-heal-come back" that ZF mobs have aside from running it with a mage?
Thanks in advance.
