    FPS Question

Hey guys. Over the last couple of months my FPS has been very low. When I sit still in an empty zone like Tirisfal Glades, I'm getting 5.7 FPS. But for some reason when I rotate my camera so it's looking straight down at my character, my FPS is 25-30 steadily. I have 115GB of free space on my computer and I am running a NVIDIA Geforce 6600 GT. I have also done multiple virus and spyware scans and I haven't found a thing. What could be my problem?

Edit: I am now standing in Undercity and my FPS is 30...this is ****ed

is anyone using you internet and doing some harcore web-surfing?

not too sure but could be your firewall

FPS issues are typically not related to latency.

This sounds like a shader problem, maybe you should update your drivers for your graphics card? Note that standing in an area like Undercity, you will always have more FPS because it is a closed area and not an open one like Tirisfal Glades.

The times I've experienced this, it has been due to these things:

    1. Computer was filled with dirt and needed cleaning
    2. My add-ons were in some way screwed
    3. I needed a driver
    4. My CPU was getting too warm due to lack of CPU paste
    5. Viruses etc. in the computer

This is only from my own experience, but these things has caused me troubles.

Hope you find a solution to your problem

    Tenned

Edit; Oh, btw, check the video options in WoW and make sure everything is as its supposed to be.

Ah yes. Dust your PC out regularly as Tenned says. ^_^ Used to give me numerous headaches over the years.

Heh, funny story, My old PC had enormous amounts of dust and stuff i don't dare to touch...
Thats maybe why it crashed ^.-

    @ Thread maker

Try check so that your components run at okay temp (CPU/GPU mainly, But the others doesn't like it too hot either)
I had a problem with my CPU actually locking itself on 1300MHz lower than its set value and caused me to lose ~70fps in crowded areas and up to the stupid amount of 250 in low-populated small areas.
Apparently the FPS cap is 300 heh.. Not related but still..

Drivers needs updating. Usually mostly when there's a problem, And there is a problem atm.

But mainly check temps and maybe clean your pc
