Quest Helper isn't working. (It's my first addon)

    Hey MMOWNED,

I'm trying to get my first addon to work. Quest helper. I downloaded it from curse. (The automated install isn't working, or the curse client install). So, I'm trying to get it work my manually installing it. I downloaded it into my wow folder, then unzipped it. For some odd reason, there's no addon button at the bottom left corner on my character screen. If you could help, I would really appreciate it.

It has to be in WOW/interface/addons

    X:/World of Warcraft/Interface/addons/Questhelper

Did you put it exactly there?

    ---

I read from a few people that there have been some changes for some Vista-Users. You should have a look in your "personal" Profilefolder. Maybe WoW puts your files there.

I'm a Vista user and i've not noticed any changes. Like Thrillseeker said, you need to unzip the Folders into the Addons folder.

    For example mine goes, Games/WorldofWarcraft/Interface/Addons

Doing that should give you the Addon option when you log in.

Ok, this is not what I wrote but something I found on the wow forums:
From all that I have read, if WOW is installed in your program files folder, it can cause problems with Windows Vista because of some caching that can mess it up. For best results, install WOW outside of your program files folder. Also, make sure the addons are still enabled in the Blizzard UI by clicking on the addons button.

It should not matter what your OS is, this should have no affect on your addons or other wow mods, unless you have had to re-install them. As you may have noticed using Windows XP, when you use the Windows zip program, the default behavior is to expand the files into a folder of the same name. So, if you are extracting a folder called CT Raid, it will actually extract it into another folder called CT Raid. So, if WOW is looking inside the CT Raid folder, it will only see another folder called CT Raid, it will not see any of the required files. So, this could be part of the problem users are having. When installing addons, it would probably be best to extract the zip files into My Documents and then copy over the actual folder with the programs to the addons folder, thus avoiding any of the extra folders.

For any one seeking help please, here is what I've found. If you right click on the WoW icon on your desktop you have the option to "Open file in location..." This will direct you to the actual WoW folders will everything. From here you should instantly see the file "Interface" and when you click on it you will find your "Add ons" folder. Save your addons in this folder and there you have it. Vista isn't jacked, just very, very confusing to use. Why this would not have been in the "Explore" option I do not know. But it is just that easy.
Hey guys, before i had the 3.03 patch everything ran fine, but eversince I upgraded my patch my addons wouldn't appear. I spent about 3 hours trying to figure out wth was going on. And yes, i have vista.

If anything from previous blogs don't work, try this. after some messing around, i finally figured out what was wrong with my addon folder.

    1. You should know, for some odd reason, Vista makes 3-4 directories when you install World of Warcraft. If your addons won't run in C:/Program Files/World of Warcraft/Interface/Addon, then try the step below. PS, please don't try any of that copy and paste thing, it might complicate your problem further.

    2. Click on your World of Warcraft icon and go to Compatibility. Check mark Run this program in Compatibility mode for: Windows XP (and sometimes it will say Service Pack 2. Either one is fine). Next, look below and Check run this program as an administrator.

    3. Your almost done. Now all you need is to locate the correct directory where you can upload your addons. Chances are the correct place to upload your addons are here : C:\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns

That should be the correct directory to upload your addons if you were facing the same problems as I. I hope this helps
I tried every solution listed in this post and none of them worked for me. After tinkering around I discovered that there's another interface folder that it appears bliz uses to load mods they create. It's in C:\Users\public\games\world of warcraft\interface\addons folder. I loaded my mods there and wallah! There's got to be a better way to get the mods to load though...but after 1.5 hours of trying to get this to work I don't care much to find "the right way."
