How I got my WOTLK Beta Key

On 9/8 I decided to cancel my world of warcraft account in favor of playing spore/madden/cod4 and mysteriously on 9/10 I received a WOTLK beta key. Now this may or may not be a coincidence but the reason I cited for canceling my subscription is "bored of the game" and i went on to tell how I've been playing the game for years and was only going to come back if the expansion looked good, low and behold I received my beta key shortly after this and I have a feeling it may have had something to do with me canceling. I have 4 friends who are going to try to do what I did to see if there is any correlation, thought I would post it here in case you guys wanted to try.

This has nothing to do with whether or not your account is active. You can still opt in and it's random. If you cancel your account it isn't like they're going to try and coax each individual player into coming back by giving them a beta, they have enough subscribers as is.

A massive wave of Beta Invites went out on the 10th, I know 20+ people who have been invited so far, and I got my third key.

There's no correlation. Beta opt-ins are completely, completely random.

It was just a coincedence.
