I see yes, but you must know that there are many different linux distributions and they all have their benifits and negative sides. I recommend you install Ubuntu if you want to try it and then go read about Wine to play wow and if you like visual effects about compiz fusion

Drivers upto date? or even 64bit drivers for your network card????

TBH stick with Windows.... It has much much more compatability then any other OS.

    I would personaly recomend Vista.....

All these whines about how it crap and go with win XP blah blah... its bull **** they said the same when win XP came out saying it was crappy and useless now they swear by it. Some ppl are just affraid of change.

    Patton:

You can install ANYTHING you like on vista, just like u can on XP.

Remember vista is based on XP... its not a brand new re-writen operating system.

Plus cracking a game has nothing (as such) todo with windows its self you are modding the game files to bypass secruity features.

As for a vista version Home Premium does the job jsut fine, ultimate just has loads of crap that sounds good but you will never use.

    Good Computer .... NP

Ok the truth is that Windows Vista is just more resource intensive then Windows XP the reason is pretty obvious its that it has more Graphic and ram eating GUI ... the thing is that if you have a good computer (like it sounds you like you have ) go with vista plain old 32 bit although 64 bit is faster (at least in my opinion) its just not worth it to go there because of the lack of compatibility with many software and hardware. Less Updated Drivers or lack of drivers in general usually equals issues ... such as bad latency. This pretty much covered by all the posts so far but this pretty much sums it up.

I love vista, and I love xp. If you have a 64 bit, I like the vista, 32, XP

Just because glider only runs on XP and 32bit ;p
