Argent Dawn Scam

I did not make this scam and this scam has already been used it seems, but I felt like posting it none the less. I got a mail from some character and it had A gift from the Argent Dawn in the subject. the message explained that it was a NPC from Hopes Chapel in EPL and that with all the hard work I did on behalf of the AD I should be rewarded. But this reward was not without a price. I had to pay 100g for the document that held the information for my reward. This scam was nicely done and from the General chat of most of the big cities ALOT of people fell for it. Hell, I almost fell for it, until I saw that is was charging me 100g instead of giving me 100g. I have to give props to whoever pulled this off. You did a very nice job, whoever you are.

A letter was in my mailbox. Got that part? It was supposedly from a NPC that can be found in Light Hope Chapel in EPL. It contained another piece of paper that if I chose to take it would have cost 100g. That 'other' piece of paper would give me further instructions to get my reward from the Argent Dawn.

Now the letter was generic written saying what a wonderful job I was doing against the Scourge and that for all my work I should be rewarded. But that reward would come at a price (hence the 100g for the 'other' paper).

Like I said it was pretty good. But being a member from here, I was suspect of the letter and started to ask some questions.

First of all it was obviosly a scam because what ever the person wanted to say in the letter, didn't actually fit within the word/character limit. Clearly just a nub. But I'm sure some people fell for it.

DO NOT TRY TO PULL THIS SCAM. IT SUCKS!

To be honest, its brilliant . Do /who plaguelands. Search some level 55-60. And mail him about it with something like :

Dear xxxx,

We, from the Argent Dawn, have been very optimistic about your improvements. For all the help you've given to us, we would like to donate this token of reward, from the Argent Dawn. It holds an epic item, so that you can continue your journey in the worlds of Warcraft.

Simple, never the less im going to copy this text and send it to 10 people.

If it had a gold price though to get it, i'de probably end up googling it, you're never the first person to get those type of things, and usually people post it on a forum of some type :P
