Hey guys, I'm back with a little tip for warlocks. It may be widely known or it may be wonderful and you all praise me and wrap ribbons around my neck and ask why I wasn't born sooner. If it's the latter yay, I'm glad to be of assistance. If it's the former, then hopefully it will help beginning locks see that fear is indeed a means of crowd control that can be used responsibly and is as valid a CC as sheep (almost).
Basically, in a nutshell, you can almost entirely control fear if you have a quick reaction speed. Place Curse of Agony and Curse of Recklessness side by side on your action bar. I prefer numericals 0 and - on my bar because they are closest to reach while I run. Next, understand that Curse of Recklessness breaks fear. Next understand that fear is a state in its own, meaning it remains on the target even if you have Recklessness on them, they just don't pay attention to it. Next, understand that Curse of Agony drops Curse of Recklessness, and if used while fear is up, will send the mob back into fear.
Here's essentially what you do. You pull the mob to you using shadowbolt or whatever, then fear it. If it goes in an unsuitable direction (i.e. towards more mobs) cast recklessness and it will go back to attacking you. Once it gets close, cast curse of agony to send it reeling away in fear, hopefully in the direction you want. If not, cast Curse of Recklessness followed by renewing fear while the mob runs back to you, then use Agony again to send it fearing away. Repeat until you get the desired direction.
Granted this isn't as easy as just sheeping a target, but oftentimes if you have a previously cleared room in an instance, you can play around with this and virtually take a whole mob out of the equation on otherwise difficult pulls. This made Setthekk Halls extremely easy for me and my team, along with Crypts. And the reason I wanted to post this was the amazement that not a lot of players I know know about it. If it's widely known, I might just have noobs on my friend's list. But even some high end guild members have yelled at me for fearing, and after explanation said "Wow, I've never thought about that."
Anyways, we'll see where it goes. At the very least, beginner locks need to learn that fear is a VERY viable CC if used intelligently.
