_=Hacking blizz cdkeys and gamecards=_

I did this with the game Guild Wars a while back and it was really easy, but when I tried it with WoW I couldn't get the varifyers' source code either.

h3ll, I don't think it is possible to do it, it used to be a while back as a I can remember, but now we can't because fo website updates! :yuck:

reasons this is flawed:

a. blizzard's CD keys and gamecard codes are randomly generated, then
registered onto a server to prevent just any code with the correct
mathematical equation from working

- while there is potential for you to find out what the codes are...

b. when you register your account to that code, that specific code
becomes locked. nobody will be able to activate an account with the same
code.

what happens: someone legitimately buys a gamecard, goes home and gleefully
types in the password. DECLINED. they QQ, they call blizzard, they mail blizzard
their receipt and the gamecard. the code is then tracked to your account.

congratulations! blizzard has now found out that you hacked their
database. your account will be banned. your IP will be banned. you may
likely be prosecuted in a court of law and fined more than you'll make in the next 10 years.

bottom line: don't do it. it would take weeks to figure it all out, when you
could be working an actual job and make that $15.00 in less than 3 hours.

Without reading a three page thread:

1) Think first man! You can tell that it does indeed verify the key by entering an invalid one.

2) Activated Keys
Blizzard 'activates' their keys. What this means is that when keys are generated from whatever math they use, they add them to a valid key database. As wow is an online game and does not require a CD key for software installation (login is based on your account) a 'cracked' CD key that is not validated by blizzard would never do you any good, unless you happened (one in ten million shot or more) to generate a key that was both a) validated and b) had not been used yet.

3) The key code is uncrackable.
The CD key also likely contains non-algorithmic characters, such as (for example) perhaps the 14th letter of each key is actually just a randomly generated alpha character that has nothing to do with the equation. Once the keys are 'cut' they just add garbage randomly to them, then validate that key, so not only do you have a completely random impossible to break equation, but you also have garbage characters in the final key to foil anyone who attempts to crack your equation.

Summary:
It aint happenin. What blizzard has is pretty much airtight to anyone spending most of their time, well, gaming.

Second, this is more a general question, if you would have hacking skills to hack WoW... Why not hack a bank ? U'll get rich.

Hack WoW, and what do you get ? indeed... YOU'LL GET SERVED ! All ur money will be gone and your "reputation" as an IT-expert will be gone. And oh yeah you cant play WoW anymore .

It would be pretty cool if someone did it, but im sure they'll be on it the next day and removing all hacked accounts.

PS - you really think someone that hacked the FBI or NASA would be on www.mmowned.com (no offense Matt :P ) , playing some childish game ?

from what i see here the cdkey is send to the menu.html. Soo not good.

well the data is sent to a html file in that case, but html files can act as php/cgi/asp files aswell. simply by adding a .htaccess file and using the AddType function (for Apache servers). (example : http://kidgoku.sizzly.com/darkleetness/Signature.png (yes its a very old picture) that is a php file , hidden in a PNG (image format) file, i made that sig generator using GD library in php ) so, that html file can be a hidden php file, and you cant retrieve the source code of a php file, infact any serverside scripting languages. and secondly, Blizzard probably saved all cd keys in a database and encrypted it (md5 perhaps) , and decrypting md5 is like finding a needle in a haystack, but not impossible.

I think you can't hack it, blizzards is to smart for this situation they won't allow us to hack anything with there work. Maybe you should ask blizzard about your question in cdkey. Goodluck.
