How is it helpful? What do those numbers mean to me?

It's really only helpful in verticle wall jumping, it lets you find the absolute north of a wall, making verticle wall jumping as simple as mashing 2 buttons.

Edit: Actually allows you to find the absolute NESW Directions (North east south west)
